Tornadoes could hit London as heavy rain and winds to batter the capital

00:00Londoners have been warned that isolated tornadoes are possible this week as the city prepares
00:07to be battered by heavy rain and strong winds as the tail end of Hurricane Kirk hits the
00:13country. Hurricane Kirk is currently maintaining Category 4 strength in the central North Atlantic
00:20Ocean. Chris Balmer, the Met Office's Deputy Chief Meteorologist, said Kirk over the North
00:26Atlantic will lose its status as a hurricane early next week before being swept towards
00:33Northwest Europe. The resulting low-pressure system will have the potential to bring disruptive
00:39rain and winds to some areas including parts of the UK from the middle of this week. There
00:46remains much detail to work out on the exact track and timing of the system, however there
