00:00The head coach of the KOM Malaysian Athletics Union, Robert Ballard,
00:05confirmed that the 100-meter runner-up, Azim Fahmi,
00:08and the 400-meter runner-up, Shireen Samson Vallabhoy,
00:11will not participate in the 2024 Sarawak Open.
00:15Despite their absence, the spirit of this competition
00:18is still felt by the Indonesian and Singaporean athletes.
00:21Azim Fahmi and Shireen Vallabhoy have returned to the United States
00:26to do their off-season training.
00:28This is a really, really important part of the focus for them
00:31because their next really super main target
00:34are the World Championships next year.
00:37So they'll be doing their off-season preparation
00:40and getting ready for a bit of maybe an indoor season
00:44and then back onto the outdoor.
00:46We're looking forward to having these other international countries,
00:49nearby neighboring countries, to compete with us.
00:52And being World Athletics events,
00:55this is really important for them as well.
00:57To pick up ranking points along the way
01:00on World Athletics and recognition.
01:03In the same development,
01:05KOM has also received new equipment from Sweden
01:08that will be used for swimming training
01:11under the MSN National Swimming Conference.
01:13We have more than 20 brand new javelins.
01:16All the products are coming from Sweden and Nordic.
01:19Nordic, you know, they picked up nearly all the medals
01:23in some of their throwing equipment in Paris recently.
01:26So we have shop foot, hammers, discus.
01:30As I mentioned, the javelins.
01:32We have new hurdles, training hurdles for us.
01:34And new start blocks, over 20 sets of start blocks here.
