Grimsby analysis after Rovers' 3-0 win
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon, Rick here from Blundell Park after Doncaster's pretty impressive 3-0 win over Grimsby Town.
00:07Yeah, home from home, isn't it? Coming here, Blundell Park, another win for Rovers on the road and yeah, really impressive.
00:16Well, from start to finish, the boss proceedings, Ted Chalmont-Lowe had very, very little to do.
00:22I think once he very smothered it in the second half. But yeah, other than that, it was just total dominance.
00:28Probably should have been more than three, shouldn't it?
00:31Yeah, they made a great start within two minutes, Gibson on the score sheet.
00:35And after that, it was just like I said, they were just in cruise control.
00:39Molyneux getting on the score sheet as well, which I was glad to see.
00:41Obviously, quite interesting that both players, both changes, Gibson and Molyneux,
00:46obviously coming back into the team after Tuesday and both finding the score sheet,
00:51but putting on proper performances as well.
00:53You know, Molyneux getting the assist and a goal, two for Gibson.
00:56We spoke to him post-match as well, Jordan Gibson, he felt like he should have had a hat-trick.
01:01He had a good opportunity to add to it, didn't he, second half?
01:04But yeah, pretty much near enough for the perfect day at the office for Rovers.
01:12Like I say, that third goal and then obviously the aftermath of that was the red card,
01:16which obviously a show of dissent from their guy gets sent off.
01:21And then after that, it's really a non-event.
01:23The second half, no further goals, but Rovers didn't have to get out of first gear, did they?
01:29The game was done and dusted.
01:31And yeah, the only blot on the day really is the injury to Joseph Oluwu.
01:36So we asked him about that post-match, Grant McCann, and he said it was just kind of a back spasm.
01:40So hopefully that heals it up, heals up itself.
01:43Obviously, it's no game midweek now, so he's got a full week before crew at home.
01:49So yeah, that was the only kind of downside, if you like, today.
01:52But I thought Bayley was brilliant.
01:53I thought they were all great today, but especially Bayley,
01:56getting the last-minute call to kind of drop deeper in midfield.
01:59Broadbent as well deserves credit. I thought he was great.
02:03Obviously, the usual ones, Molyneux, Gibson, were all spot on.
02:07And yeah, brilliant performance and it bodes well, doesn't it,
02:11going into that game against Crewe next week?
02:13We spoke to Grant afterwards and he said that they're going to have a kind of a behind-closed-doors training match midweek.
02:18So that's another opportunity for the likes of Zane Westbrook and James Maxwell to get a run out.
02:25So yeah, pretty much a perfect day at the office for Rovers.
02:28Joint level on point with leaders, Gillingham before, obviously, the three o'clock games.
02:33So yeah, all bodes well going into that Crewe game next Saturday.
