00:00Welcome to Medea TV, you have just seen an excerpt from the ballet of Milan and their
00:27spectacle Dolce Vita. The ballet of Milan was in Tangier for the inaugural session of the second
00:33stage of the third edition of the Medfilm Festival in Morocco. This second stage of the festival,
00:40which lasts until October 5 in Tangier, follows a first stage held in Rabat from 25 to 29 September
00:47and is part of the celebration of the 30th edition of the Medfilm Festival in Italy
00:52and its third edition in Morocco. The festival is organized by the Italian Embassy in Morocco
00:58and the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat in collaboration with the Hiba Foundation,
01:03the Renaissance Cinema of Rabat, the Tangier Cinematheque and the Superior Institute of
01:08Audiovisual Work and Rabat Cinema Lismac. This stage was launched by this spectacle
01:15combining dance and music performed by the ballet of Todi Milano accompanied by the Amadeus Orchestra
01:21of Trecate under the direction of Maestro Gian Mario Cavagliaro. The show takes up the original
01:28tapes of cult films recreated through choreographies, scenes of characters from
01:34great films of the Seventh Art. I suggest you listen to Armando Barruco, he is the ambassador
01:40of Italy to Morocco and the images are from Abt-Samad Montaser. The Medfilm Festival is an
01:47Italian historical festival in Rome, which is more than 30 years old, but we decided,
01:51considering the relations with Morocco, but also the cultural cooperation that we have
01:55between the two countries, to bring this festival to several cities. In the past we went to Marrakech,
02:03now we decided to do it in Rabat and Tangier. So it's a first, thanks to the collaboration
02:09with the Ministry of Culture and with the Wilaya and with all our partners like the Hiba Foundation
02:15and others, we managed to start this festival with a great ballet show, the Balletto di Milano,
02:23with the Trecate Orchestra, the Amadeus Orchestra of Trecate, and our Italian Institute of Culture
02:30with the director Carmela Callea, and we found a formidable cooperation by all the authorities.
02:36We are very happy and I hope it will be not only a premiere, but we will have many events
02:41like this here in Tangier, where, as you know, we have a very beautiful and great Italian history
02:48with the Palais Moulin et Fides, with the lyceum, the school and with the old Italian community.
02:54The Dolce Vita show, which is a tribute to the soundtracks of films that have marked
03:00centuries of cinema, reflects the symbiosis that exists between dance, music and cinema,
03:06all inspired by the movement. The organization of this third edition of the festival is part of
03:12the missions of the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat, a relevant organization of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
03:20responsible for broadcasting and promoting the Italian language and culture in Morocco.
03:26I suggest you listen to Carmela Callea. She is the director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat.
03:33We started in the city of Rabat and now we have arrived in this beautiful city,
03:40which is the heart of civilization, of cultures, of languages, and which can give us the opportunity
03:49to strengthen the relations between Italy and Morocco on the basis of an intercultural dialogue.
03:57Culture, especially nowadays, is the only vector, I think, so that there can be a dialogue between peoples.
04:12Filmmakers, even if they do not speak the same language, they will create, even if they are from different countries,
04:22even if they are far away, they will create common moments in which they can dialogue and above all
04:33make cinema a vector to improve relations between peoples.
04:45During the three days of the RIF Film Festival, it will become the central point of the festival by hosting
04:51a selection of Mediterranean films highlighting contemporary and classic works.
04:57The themes discussed include universal subjects such as immigration, identity and borders.
05:03The opening film, Moi Capitaine, depicts the challenges of young African migrants,
05:09a theme that is particularly relevant in the current Mediterranean context.
05:13We are listening to Carlo Pesta, President and Artistic Director of the Balletto di Milano,
05:19and Malika Cherelle, Vice-President of the Cinematheque Les Images 102 in Montacerre.
05:26You know that dance and music are born in Italy, and music is used for beautiful film bands.
05:39That's why we decided, together with the Ambassador and Mrs. Callea, Director of the Culture Institute,
05:47to organize a show especially for this event.
05:51After that, it will be shot in Italy, in other countries, in Switzerland, and so on.
05:56We thought about doing a show on the choreographies, on the musical bands of all the films that are more famous,
06:07and the music, the dance and the film will be the protagonists of this evening.
06:15I am very happy to welcome for the first time the 3rd edition of the MET Film Festival.
06:20It is happening for the opening here, at the Palace of Arts and Culture,
06:28so it's a great place.
06:31The screening will take place at the Cinémathèque de Tangier, at the Cinéma Riff.
06:36We will start with the film by Matteo Garone, me as the captain,
06:42and then we will discover the feature films and the short films of Médine Taranné.
06:48Thank you, dear viewers, for your loyalty.
