People of Glasgow give their views on when it’s appropriate to turn on central heating

We take to George Square to question Glaswegians on when is appropriate to turn the heating on, particularly as we face rising bill costs.

00:00I always think October's the line. If you go before October, you've gone too soon.

00:04But there's always a debate in our house about when's too early.

00:07Hopefully not in September, but October I think is the time to put it on.

00:14I would reckon you would put it on at the end of this month, next month.

00:18I'm not going to lie, I'm the coldest person alive,

00:20so the heating has been on in September, but normally it is October, but yeah.

00:26So you've not put it on yet?

00:28No.

00:29Have you put yours on yet?

00:31Yes, just once.

00:34Obviously we've gone through a cost of living crisis, things are a lot more expensive.

00:37Still in it.

00:38Would that prevent you from putting your heating on now?

00:41No.

00:41What prompted you to do that?

00:45Rain.

00:46Yeah, we both work outside, so we got really wet and we wanted warming up when we got home,

00:51so we just put the heating on for a little bit, just a couple of hours.

00:55Well enough heat keeps you, you know what I mean, keeps you healthier than cold, that's for sure.
