00:00In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
00:04All praise is due to Allah, Who has sent down the Book to His servant, and He has not made it crooked,
00:16to warn of a severe punishment from Him, and to give good news to the believers who do righteous deeds, that they will have a good reward,
00:38that they will not be harmed therein forever, and to warn those who say,
00:46Allah has taken a son.
00:49They have no knowledge of it, nor do their fathers.
00:57It is a great word that comes out of their mouths. They say nothing but a lie.
01:07So perhaps you will cause yourself to weep over their traces if they do not believe in this hadith, alas.
01:19Indeed, We have made what is on the earth an adornment for it, that We may test them which of them is best in deed.
01:30Indeed, We have made what is on the earth an adornment for it, that We may test them which of them is best in deed.
01:39Or do you think that the companions of the cave and the rock were of Our signs in wonder?
01:50When the young men turned to the cave and said,
01:54Our Lord, give us from Yourself mercy, and make easy for us our affair in a right way.
02:05So We struck their ears in the cave for a number of years.
02:13Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best in what they wore forever.
02:25We relate to you their story in truth.
02:31Indeed, they were young men who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.
02:38And We struck their hearts when they stood up and said,
02:44Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth.
02:49We will not invoke other than Him a deity.
02:59And have We not said, when they have gone astray,
03:05These are a people who have taken besides Him deities.
03:15Why do they not come to them with a clear solution?
03:22So who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah?
03:29And when their affairs have gone astray and they worship none but Allah,
03:35then go to the cave, and your Lord will spread for you from His mercy,
03:49and make easy for you your affair in a right way.
03:58And you will see the sun, when it rises,
04:01moving away from their cave to the right,
04:06and when it sets, it sets them to the left,
04:11and they will be in a gap from it.
04:15That is from the signs of Allah.
04:19Whom Allah guides, he is the one guided.
04:24And whosoever He sends astray, you will not find for him a guardian who will guide him.
04:32And you will think of them as a bed, while they are beds.
04:38And We will turn them to the right and to the left.
04:45And their dog, his arms outstretched in the middle.
04:52And when you look at them, you will turn away from them in flight,
04:58and you will be filled with terror from them.
05:02And thus did We raise them that they might ask one another.
05:10A speaker from among them said,
05:15How long did you stay?
05:17They said, We stayed a day or part of a day.
05:22They said, Your Lord knows best how long you stayed.
05:27So send one of you with this paper to the city,
05:38and let him see which of them is purer in food,
05:47and let him bring you provision from it,
05:56and let him ask for forgiveness, and let him make you not perceive anyone.
06:03Indeed, if they appear before you, they will stone you or return you to their religion,
06:13and you will not succeed, then, ever.
06:21And thus did We make it difficult for them that they might know
06:28that the promise of Allah is true and that the Hour is not to be feared therein.
06:38When they disputed among themselves over their affair,
06:42they said, Build upon them a building.
06:47Their Lord is most knowing of them.
06:50Those who had prevailed over their affair said,
06:55We will surely take upon them a masjid.
07:08They will say, Three-fourth of them are their dog,
07:13and they will say, Five-sixth of them are their dog,
07:18striking in the unseen.
07:22And they will say, Seven-eighth of them are their dog.
07:28Say, My Lord knows best their number.
07:33None knows them except a few.
07:37So do not incite among them except openly,
07:46and do not ask of them any of them.
07:51And do not say of anything, Indeed, I will do that tomorrow,
08:01except that Allah wills.
08:09And remember your Lord when you forget,
08:12and say, Perhaps my Lord will guide me to a more just way than this.
08:21And they stayed in their cave three hundred years,
08:27and increased nine.
08:30Say, Allah knows best what they stayed in.
08:34To Him is the unseen of the heavens and the earth.
08:39Observe Him and listen.
08:42They have no protector other than Him,
08:47and He does not associate anyone with Him in His judgment.
08:53And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord.
09:01There is no substitute for His words,
09:05and you will not find besides Him any refuge.
09:13And be patient with those who call upon their Lord morning and evening,
09:22desiring His Face.
09:25And let not your eyes deviate from them, desiring the adornment of the life of this world.
09:33And do not obey him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance,
09:40and whose desire has been followed, and his affair has been divided.
09:48And say, The truth is from your Lord.
09:51So whoever wills, let him believe, and whoever wills, let him disbelieve.
10:02Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a Fire,
10:08encircling them in its surroundings.
10:12And if they transgress, they will be drowned in water like oil,
10:20burning their faces.
10:23Evil is that which they associate with Him, and evil is that which they associate with Him.
10:31Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds,
10:37We do not waste the reward of one who does a good deed.
10:43Those will have Gardens of Eternity beneath which rivers flow.
10:53They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold,
10:59and they will be wearing green garments of silk,
11:12and they will be reclining therein on couches.
11:22Blessed is the reward, and good is the companion.
11:29And set forth for them the example of two men.
11:33We made for one of them two gardens of grapes,
11:40and We surrounded them with date-palms,
11:47and We made between them a field.
11:51Both the two gardens provided for their food,
11:57and they did not wrong in any way,
12:01and We caused a river to flow through them.
12:08And he had a fruit,
12:11and he said to his companion while he was speaking to him,
12:20I am more perfect than you, and more powerful than you.
12:27And he entered his garden while he was wronging himself.
12:33He said, I do not think that this will ever perish,
12:43and I do not think the Hour will ever come,
12:51and if I should be returned to my Lord,
13:00I would certainly find therein better return.
13:07His companion said to him while he was speaking to him,
13:12Do you disbelieve in Him who created you from dust,
13:22then from a sperm-drop,
13:30then made you into a man?
13:34But He is Allah, my Lord,
13:39and I do not associate anyone with my Lord.
13:45And why did you not, when you entered your garden, say,
13:52What Allah wills, there is no power except with Allah.
14:05If you see that I am less than you in wealth and children,
14:13then perhaps my Lord will give me better than your garden,
14:22and He will send upon it a cloud from the sky,
14:30and it will become a cliff,
14:36or its water will become a pit,
14:42and you will not be able to ask for it.
14:49And he was surrounded by his fruit,
14:52and he began to turn his hands over what he had spent on it,
15:00while it was lying on its thrones,
15:07and he said, I wish I had not associated anyone with my Lord,
15:15and he had no party to help him other than Allah,
15:23and he would not have been able to help.
15:28Therein is loyalty to Allah, the truth.
15:34He is the best reward and the best reward.
15:42And present to them the example of the life of this world,
15:47as if We had sent it down from the sky,
16:00and the plants of the earth mixed with it,
16:06and it became a cloud, the winds blowing it,
16:13and Allah has power over all things.
16:23Wealth and children are the adornment of this worldly life,
16:29and the good deeds are better with your Lord as a reward and better as a hope.
16:44And the Day We will cover the mountains,
16:47and you will see the earth exposed,
16:51and We will gather them together,
16:53and We will not leave any of them.
16:57And they will be presented before your Lord in rows,
17:01saying, You have come to Us as We created you the first time,
17:08but you claimed that We would not make for you an appointment.
17:15And the Book will be placed, and you will see the criminals,
17:21from what is in it, and they will say,
17:27O woe to us!
17:29What is with this Book?
17:31It does not leave a small or a large thing
17:37except that it contains it.
17:40And they will find that which they did is present.
17:45And your Lord does not wrong anyone.
17:49And when We said to the angels,
17:54Submit to Adam,
17:56but they submitted except Iblis.
18:05He was of the jinn,
18:08but he disobeyed the commandment of his Lord.
18:11Then will you take him and his progeny as allies instead of Me,
18:20while they are to you an enemy?
18:23Evil is the exchange for the wrongdoers.
18:27I did not make them witness the creation of the heavens and the earth
18:34nor the creation of themselves.
18:41And I would not take the misguided as an ally.
18:49And on the Day when they say,
18:51Call the partners of Mine whom you claimed,
18:57but they called them, but they did not respond to them,
19:03and We placed a barrier between them.
19:08And the criminals saw the Fire,
19:12so they thought that they were going to fall into it,
19:18but they found no escape from it.
19:23And indeed We have explained in this Qur'an
19:28for the people every kind of example.
19:32And man is most of all a matter of dispute.
19:41And what prevented the people from believing
19:46when guidance came to them
19:50and they asked forgiveness of their Lord,
19:53except that the way of the ancients should come to them
20:01or that the punishment should come to them readily?
20:05And We do not send messengers
20:08except as bearers of good tidings and warners.
20:13And those who disbelieve dispute by falsehood
20:18that they may take away with it the truth
20:21and take My signs,
20:27and what they are warned of, in mockery.
20:32And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the signs of his Lord
20:38but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have sent forth?
20:44Indeed, We have placed upon their hearts a cover
20:49that they may understand it, and in their ears a deafness.
20:56And if you invite them to guidance,
20:59then they will never be guided.
21:05And your Lord is Forgiving, Possessor of Mercy.
21:09If He had held them back because of what they earned,
21:14He would have hastened for them the punishment.
21:18But for them is an appointment
21:21which they will not find other than it.
21:27And those cities We destroyed when they were wrongdoers.
21:36And We made for their destruction an appointment.
21:44And when Moses said to his servant,
21:47I will not leave until I reach the junction of the two seas
21:54or spend a period.
21:57So when they reached the junction between them,
22:01they forgot their fish.
22:04So he took his way in the sea, fleeing.
22:09And when they had passed, he said to his servant,
22:13Give us our farewell.
22:18We have indeed met in our journey this person.
22:24He said, Do you remember when we turned to the rock,
22:30and I forgot the fish?
22:34And none made me forget it except Satan, that I should remember him.
22:42And he took his way in the sea, wondering.
22:47He said, That is what we were looking for.
22:51So he returned to his footprints, narrating.
22:57So he found a servant of Our servants.
23:02We gave him mercy from Us,
23:07and We taught him knowledge from Us.
23:13Moses said to him, Shall I follow you
23:17so that you may teach me from what you have been taught, rightly?
23:24He said, Indeed, you cannot be patient with me.
23:31And how can you be patient with that in which you have no knowledge?
23:37He said, You will find me, if Allah wills, patient.
23:46And I will not disobey you in any matter.
23:51He said, So if you follow me, do not ask me for anything
23:58until I bring to you from it a reminder.
24:06So they set off.
24:10Until, when they boarded the ship, he broke it.
24:16He said, Did you break it to drown its people?
24:21You have done a terrible thing.
24:24He said, Did I not say, Indeed, you cannot be patient with me?
24:32He said, Do not take me for what I have forgotten,
24:36and do not make difficult for me my affair.
24:41So they set off.
24:44Until, when they met a boy, he killed him.
24:51He said, Did you kill a pure soul without a soul?
24:58You have done a terrible thing.
25:03He said, Did I not say, Indeed, you cannot be patient with me?
25:12He said, If I ask you for anything after this, do not accompany me.
25:21You have reached from me an excuse.
25:26So they set off.
25:29Until, when he came to the people of a town,
25:36he asked for food for its people,
25:40but they refused to host them.
25:45So he found in it a wall he wanted to build,
25:53so he built it.
25:55He said, If you willed, you would have taken a reward for it.
26:00He said, This is the separation between me and you.
26:05I will tell you the interpretation of what you were not able to do patiently.
26:14As for the ship, it belonged to poor people who worked in the sea,
26:22so I wanted to repair it.
26:26And there was behind them a king who seized every ship by force.
26:35And as for the boy, his parents were believers,
26:41so we feared that he would make them transgress and disbelieve.
26:52So we wanted to replace them with their Lord,
26:58better than him in purity and nearer to mercy.
27:05And as for the wall, it was for two orphan boys in the city,
27:13and beneath it was a treasure for them,
27:18and their father was righteous.
27:22So your Lord intended that they reach maturity,
27:29and take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord.
27:42And I did not do it by my command.
27:46That is the interpretation of what you were not able to do patiently.
27:54And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn.
27:59Say, I will recite to you from him a reminder.
28:05Indeed, We have established for him in the land,
28:10and We have given him of everything a way.
28:17So he followed a way.
28:20Until, when he reached the setting of the sun,
28:26he found it setting in a boiling spring,
28:30and he found with it a people.
28:34We said, O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish,
28:41or you take in them good.
28:47He said, as for the wrongdoer, we will punish him,
28:53then he will be returned to his Lord,
29:01and He will punish him a terrible punishment.
29:07And as for he who believes and does good,
29:12he will have a reward for good.
29:17And We will say to him of Our command, easily.
29:22Then he followed a way.
29:27Until, when he reached the setting of the sun,
29:32he found it rising on a people
29:35whom We had not made a cover for them besides it.
29:41Thus it was, and We seized him with what he had of knowledge.
29:47Then he followed a way.
29:52Until, when he reached between the two mountains,
29:57he found besides them a people
30:05who could hardly understand a word.
30:12They said, O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Ya'juj and Ma'juj
30:18are corrupters in the land.
30:21So shall we make for you an exception
30:27that you make a barrier between us and them?
30:35He said, What my Lord has established in me is better,
30:41so help me with strength
30:48that I may make a barrier between you and them.
30:53Give me the pieces of iron.
30:58Until, when he had settled between the two roofs,
31:04he said, Blow.
31:07Until, when he had made it a fire, he said,
31:14Give me, I will pour over it a drop.
31:21But they could not open it,
31:28nor could they make a cover for it.
31:32He said, This is a mercy from my Lord.
31:38So when the promise of my Lord came,
31:43He made it sound,
31:47and the promise of my Lord was true.
31:53And We left some of them that Day
31:57to waver among themselves,
32:00and the trumpet was blown,
32:02and We gathered them together.
32:06And We presented Hell, that Day,
32:10to the disbelievers as a display,
32:14whose eyes were covered from My remembrance,
32:23and they could not hear.
32:30Did those who disbelieved think
32:34that they would take My servants as allies besides Me?
32:44Indeed, We have prepared Hell for the disbelievers as a descent.
32:55Say, Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in deeds
33:04whose effort has gone astray in the life of this world
33:10while they think that they are doing good?
33:21Those are the ones who disbelieved in the signs of their Lord and His meeting.
33:31So their deeds will be in vain,
33:34and We will not give them a weight on the Day of Resurrection.
33:40That is their recompense, Hell,
33:47because they disbelieved and took My signs and My messengers as a mockery.
34:00Indeed, those who believed and did righteous deeds,
34:06they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a descent,
34:17abiding therein.
34:20They will not desire from it any change.
34:25Say, If the sea were an extension of the words of my Lord,
34:32the sea would surely overflow before the words of my Lord would overflow,
34:42even if We brought with it the like of it.
34:50Say, I am only a human being like you.
34:56It is revealed to me that your God is one God.
35:09So whoever hopes to meet his Lord,
35:15let him do righteous deeds.
35:21And let him not associate anyone with the worship of his Lord.
