00:00The investigation of the PNP Internal Affairs Service against the police involved in the assassination of PCSO Board Secretary Wesley Barayuga is in full swing.
00:11As Inspector General Attorney Brihido Dulay said, it is possible to remove from service the police who confessed to the hearing of the House Squad Committee involved in the murder of the former PCSO official.
00:23The first on their list is the confessed participant conspirator, Lt. Col. Santi Mendoza.
00:30Dulay insists that they are already looking for evidence for another administrative case against Mendoza and others.
00:38But if Mendoza's statement in the House is the basis, it will face a grave offense equivalent to dismissal from the service.
00:47In the seventh hearing of the House Squad Committee involved in extrajudicial killings under the Duterte administration, Mendoza admitted that in October 2019,
00:57when he was ordered to operate a high-value target, Barayuga was the first victim.
01:03This is a grave offense. You're talking about murder involving several personalities to assassinate technically.
01:15He's already a government official because he's a PCSO.
01:18Is this possible for this case?
01:20This is for sure. If this happens, the person charged will be a grave offense with the summary dismissal penalty.
01:29The punishment here is heavy.
01:31The police who are behind the assassination of Barayuga are not safe from the investigation either.
01:38The police are on the drug watch list and are the first to handle the case.
01:42Our investigation is broad. We will not only concentrate on Barayuga's statement.
01:51We will also look at the personalities involved in the assassination of Barayuga.
01:58That's what we will look at, especially the so-called involvement in the drug list.
02:05We will look at all those angles.
02:07The EAS said that the investigation of the evidence that will be followed by formal proceedings may last for 45 to 60 days
02:16and then the summary dismissal.
02:19The PNP chief of police, General Rommel Francisco Marvil,
02:24ordered a thorough investigation on how Barayuga's name was included in the drug watch list.
02:31Marvil said that there should be clear and solid evidence against a person before it is included in the drug personality list.
02:42Ryan Lisigas for Panbansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
