00:04Edge of History Season 1. So, let's begin.

00:08The Disney Plus action-adventure series National Treasure Edge of History is set in the same

00:12universe as the popular National Treasure of Films, though the main cast is significantly

00:16younger than their cinematic counterparts.

00:19This time, the focus is on a Pan-American treasure, the collective wealth of several

00:23Mesoamerican cultures, and the primary treasure hunter is a young DACA woman named Jess Lizette

00:28Oliveira.

00:29In episode 10, Jess and her father are forced to guide Billy, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Hendrix

00:34slash Salazar, and the others to the treasure while Jess' friends try to catch up to them.

00:39Here is what you need to know about the ending, just to let you know this video will contain

00:43spoilers.

00:44The finale picks up where the penultimate episode ended.

00:48Agent Ross lies on the dock, seemingly dead.

00:51As Raphael has always known him by his other name, he recognizes that Hendrix is Salazar.

00:56He once more tries to tell Billy that Salazar killed her brother Sebastian, but Salazar

01:00intervenes, accusing Raphael of making things up, and orders his people to move.

01:05When Ethan, Liam, Tasha, and Orin get there, they discover that Billy and Salazar have

01:10left only two goons behind.

01:12Just as they converse about how to deal with those two, one of the goons manages to get

01:16behind Liam and the others and hold them at gunpoint with the help of his partner.

01:20Just then, Ross wakes up and shoots those two men dead.

01:24Realizing they need to split up, Orin and Tasha place Ross in the back of their van

01:27and drive toward the nearest hospital, whereas Liam and Ethan grab a boat and make their

01:31way across the swamp.

01:33Up ahead, Billy and Salazar encounter a thick fog, prompting Raphael to remind them that

01:38the fog is part of the lore surrounding the treasure.

01:41When Liam and Ethan get there, the latter uses the skills he acquired in his Boy Scout

01:45days to navigate them out of the fog.

01:48As the first party nears the treasure, they encounter their first trap.

01:52Having failed to recognize it for what it is, Billy's people walk right into it.

01:56Most of them are killed, and Casey is injured.

01:59Salazar later kills Casey, calling her a liability.

02:03This makes Billy realize that Raphael was telling the truth after all, and she guns

02:07down Hendrix, effectively becoming the next Salazar.

02:10Elsewhere, Orin and Tasha race against time to get Ross to a hospital.

02:15With the emergency services far away and no comprehension of exactly where they are in

02:19the swamp, their hope of saving Ross grows dimmer by the second.

02:22Fortunately, Zeke calls Ross to ask for updates on the situation.

02:27After learning about what has happened, he guides Tasha over the phone as she saves Ross'

02:31life.

02:32After they hand Ross over to the EMTs, Tasha and Orin decide to go back and find their

02:36friends.

02:38Is the Pan-American treasure found?

02:40When Hendrix asserts they are the good guys, Raphael and Jess realize that the bearded

02:44man they met earlier was right about Cross S. Nostrum—tomorrow is ours.

02:49The secret organization has existed for years, destroying treasures and maintaining the status

02:53quo.

02:54Jess and Raphael manage to escape their captors after springing the first trap.

02:59However, Jess and Raphael fail to see the coyote sign marking another trap and are caught

03:03in a cage.

03:05Meanwhile, their diversion tactic works and their pursuers follow a false trail, but Liam

03:09and Ethan recognize it for what it is and arrive where Jess and Raphael are trapped

03:13under the cage, rescuing them.

03:16After Ethan goes back to guide their friends and the authorities to the treasure, Raphael

03:20succeeds in opening the front entrance of an ancient structure.

03:23Jess then solves a puzzle with markings from all three major Mesoamerican cultures—Inca,

03:28Aztec, and Mayan—to gain entry to the main treasure room.

03:32But their celebration is short-lived as Billy blows open the entrance to the treasure chamber

03:36with explosives and enters.

03:38Working together, Jess, Liam, and Ethan, who has returned after lighting a smoke signal,

03:43manage to subdue Billy.

03:45After spotting her father under a pile of the rabble, Jess fears that she has lost him

03:48permanently this time.

03:50But he wakes up, mumbling about how he thought the discovery of the treasure was a dream.

03:55When the authorities arrive with Oren and Tasha, Billy is arrested.

03:59As the first season ends, National Treasure, Edge of History hints toward a potential season

04:032.

04:04An exhibit of the treasure is held at the National Museum of Artifacts, where Liam arrives

04:08with a cassette.

04:10He tells the others that the cassette contains information about the Pan-American treasure.

04:14When Raphael suggests that they should add it to the collection, Liam replies that they

04:18can't as it also has information about… something else.

04:22Whatever this something is, it will likely be explored in the prospective season 2.

04:26What does the mid-credits scene mean?

04:29National Treasure, Edge of History doesn't necessarily have a traditional mid-credits

04:32scene.

04:33Instead, the creators use social media posts of various characters to reveal what happens

04:38to them after the discovery of the treasure.

04:41We know that Jessica's mother's view on Malanche stands vindicated after the treasure

04:44is found.

04:46Jess and Liam start a relationship, as do Zeke and Ross, and Tasha and Oren get back

04:50together.

04:51Liam's song, Besides Me Besides You, becomes a chart-topper.

04:55Jess gets to meet the African-American female president of the US who is seen wearing Oren's

05:00sneakers.

05:01Ethan becomes a Supreme Court lawyer.

05:03Ross receives an award, and Zeke can't be prouder.

05:07Tasha and Oren also receive awards from the FBI, likely for saving Ross' life, and despite

05:11her beliefs, Tasha attends the ceremony.

05:15Was Malanche a daughter of the Plumed Serpent?

05:17Malanche, or La Malanche, is a controversial figure in Mexican history.

05:22She was the consort of Hernán Cortés and played a pivotal role in the downfall of the

05:25Aztec Empire.

05:27At present, the scholarly views on her are often contradictory.

05:31While one group considers her a traitor to all Mesoamerican people, a second group regards

05:35her as a quintessential victim.

05:38In the show, Manuela believed that Malanche was neither but a daughter of the Plumed Serpent,

05:42who ensured that the Pan-American treasure would remain beyond the reach of the conquistadors.

05:47Jess and the others find a portrait of Malanche in the treasure chamber, which effectively

05:50proves that Manuela was right all along.

05:53If Malanche weren't a daughter of the Plumed Serpent, her portrait would not be in the

05:56treasure room.

05:58The world celebrates these new findings by naming the exhibition at the National Museum

06:02of Artifacts, Malanche and the Pan-American Treasure.
