00:00I saw you on Instagram the other day kind of going off about how Power has
00:07never been nominated. It's never been nominated for an Emmy, never for a Globe.
00:11And four shows. Four shows. You have what like a couple NAACP
00:17nominations and like two people's choice.
00:19Yeah. Why do you think that is? I don't have the answers but I would say that
00:24our show gets 10.5 million viewers an episode.
00:27Yeah. The Bear, Succession, all shows that I love, half of that.
00:32Yeah. Shows that get nominated. And that's fine. If you don't, if you don't like our
00:36show, if it's not your cup of tea, it's not your style, the Academy doesn't like it,
00:39whatever, whatever.
00:40Why are we not on Jimmy Fallon? Why are we not on Jimmy Kimmel? Why are we, why
00:45are we constantly just put down and not, you know, brought to light? If any other
00:50show did 10.4 million viewers, any other show on any other network, these kids
00:55would never, ever, ever have to audition ever again.
00:57You guys have a predominantly black cast, predominantly black audience.
01:00Yeah. Do you think that has anything to do with it? People online think they might be.
01:05I mean, look, the proof is in the pudding. Like, look at The Wire. The Wire is
01:08arguably known as one of the best shows ever.
01:10Yeah. Never won anything. I don't even, were they nominated? I don't even know if
01:15they were nominated at all, but they never won anything. And a lot of people
01:18worked on our show, also worked on The Wire. What about Snowfall? Snowfall never
01:22won anything. So, but then you see shows like Abbott Elementary, which is a
01:25predominantly black cast, but they have a lot of white audience members. So, is it
01:29the black audience that they don't like? Is it, is it the black show that they
01:33don't like? I don't know what it is. I don't have the answers. I just want to
01:36ask the questions. Do you think that could have something to do with it? Oh, it definitely has
01:39something to do with it, for sure. But, like, you're looking at Abbott Elementary, maybe
01:43four million viewers an episode. Ours is more than double that. They just all
01:47renegotiated for $400,000 an episode each. We don't get paid that. Yeah. So, is
01:51it because they have more white cooks in the kitchen? Maybe. Is it because they
01:55have more white people that watch the show? Maybe. All I know is we're, we're
01:59double that, and we don't see that money. People are pissed because a lot of
02:03people don't have enough time. Like, not only, like, do you get 10.5 that night or
02:07something like that, but people are gonna watch it afterwards. Right. People have
02:10worked. They can't just sit down and watch it that one day. Right. A lot of
02:13people are, are mad because people run to Twitter with spoilers. Yeah. What do you
02:17say to fans that are gonna blow the episode as soon as it finishes tomorrow
02:21night? You have to stay on social media with the Power Universe. Like, you just do.
02:24Like, black Twitter goes crazy. Last week, I'll even say this, last week was our
02:28episode 9, and the Penguin was premiering, which is Colin Farrell. That's Batman IP.
02:35We doubled their viewership. My character, Brayden, was trending over Colin Farrell.
02:41Like, that's not crazy. And he's an A-list actor. That's not crazy to you? Yeah. That, and we
02:46can't even just go to an awards show? Like, but yeah, you do gotta stay off
02:49Twitter. I will say, you gotta stay off Twitter and Instagram because even the show spoils it.
02:52Like, like, Dirk was in our last episode. Lil Dirk. And the show put out the photos
02:58before he was even in it. I'm like, and we had Drea DeMatteo, who played Effie's mom
03:01the week before, who, from Soprano, Sons of Anarchy. The show posted a whole scene
03:05like a week, I'm like, you gotta, like. The show's so big, they gotta, they can't, they can't keep people down. And there's leaks
03:10every season, so. Yeah. That's how, that's how passionate our fans are, and that's how
03:14much I love them. They literally are, like, trying to get the show leaked. I'm like, oh my god.
03:18Just watch it in real time, please. Can I ask you one last thing? What do you say,
03:21what's your message to the Television Academy, to the, the Golden Globes, to
03:26Jimmy Fallon, to Jimmy Kimmel? I'll just say numbers don't lie. Like, numbers don't
03:30lie. Do the research. I've done it. I just put all the facts out there. Do the
03:34research. Look at our viewership. Look at these other shows' viewership. They're
03:38great shows, but we can't get invited. We can't go promote our show. It's one thing
03:41if, if they don't like our show, if they don't think it's a good show. But look at
03:46the numbers. 10.8 million people, 10.5 million people think it's a great show,
03:49so we can't go on late night. We, these, these places won't cover us. That's all
03:55I'm saying.
