00:00 TV's biggest night is finally here. Last year's Emmy winners will be revealed on Monday,
00:04 January 15th after the ceremony was postponed due to the actors and writers' strikes.
00:08 I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter here at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles,
00:13 and we're giving you a special preview at the 75th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
00:17 Anthony Anderson is set to host the show for the first time.
00:20 He told THR why this is a dream gig for him.
00:22 "This is a show that I've wanted to host for at least the last 10 years. I've been a part of the
00:27 show. I've been nominated 11 times. I'm 0 for 11. But I've also been on stage to help present and to
00:35 do it and lend my talent to the shows in other ways as well."
00:39 Anderson also revealed one way the Emmys will be different this year with him as the host.
00:42 "There will be no playoff music this year. If you run a little bit too long with your speeches,
00:48 my mother's going to come on stage and let you know that you were a little long. Now,
00:52 she's going to do it in both respectful ways. I'm just going to need you to respect my mama,
00:56 and if you don't, I just want to let you know she can throw these hands,
00:59 because she's from the west side of Chicago. She don't play that. But just know, thank your God,
01:03 thank your family, thank your team, and get off because my mama has a hot date with who's ever
01:08 going to win lead actor in the comedy series. So, Jason Sudeikis, you might get lucky again that
01:13 night." Ted Lasso, starring Jason Sudeikis, is among the shows that landed the most 2023
01:17 nominations, as well as Succession, The Last of Us, and The White Lotus.
01:21 Since the ceremony marks a milestone year for the Emmys, the show will celebrate 75
01:26 years of television history with several tributes and reunions from the casts of Cheers,
01:30 Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones, Ally McBeal, Martin, and more iconic shows.
01:36 "The whole show is a love letter to television. We've got some big reunions. We have great
01:42 theme songs throughout the night, very special pairings, just constantly showing people and
01:49 showcasing not only just the incredible television of yesterday, but focusing on
01:54 the incredible television that's being made today." One special tribute will be a recreation of this
01:58 iconic Chocolate Factory scene from I Love Lucy, with two mystery stars of today playing Lucy and
02:03 Ethel. So, who are they? We'll just have to see when the Emmys air live on Fox on Monday at 5pm
02:08 Pacific, 8pm Eastern. For all things Emmys, be sure to head over to THR.com. For The Hollywood
02:13 Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
