00:08at the top book-to-TV adaptations of 2024. First up, Three-Body Problem. David Benioff
00:18and D.B. Weiss's highly anticipated follow-up to Game of Thrones is the novel by Liu Cixin,
00:23which is based on the remembrance of Earth's past trilogy. The result is a TV-friendly
00:28narrative from the popular sci-fi odyssey about an encounter with an alien civilization
00:32looking for a new and viable planet. Next up, Ripley. Netflix's black-and-white project
00:46starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning is both a remake of the 1999 film starring Matt Damon
00:51and an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's famous thriller. The story follows a conman,
00:56Tom Ripley, who accepts a tempting offer from a rich businessman to travel to Italy to find
01:01his millionaire vagabond son. Next, Shogun. The FX series showcases real events in 1600s Japan
01:16and is based on the 1975 historical fiction novel from James Clavel. It was first adapted
01:21into an NBC miniseries in 1980. With an updated adaptation comes a shift from a Eurocentric
01:27perspective to one that focuses on the experience of the Japanese. Then, we have Lessons in
01:42Chemistry. The Apple miniseries is actually based on the 2019 debut novel from Bonnie Garmas.
01:48Star and executive producer Brie Larson optioned the rights to the book about Elizabeth Zott,
01:52a chemist-turned-cooking-show host, three years before it hit shelves. And the buzz hit new heights
01:58once the book reached bestseller status. And finally, we have Apples Never Fall. Apples is
02:08by Leanne Moriarty and her third novel to make its way to the screen after Big Little Lies and Nine
02:13Perfect Strangers. The story follows her trend of a complicated female character teetering the
02:18line between protagonist and antagonist. Annette Bening stars in the show, playing Joy Delaney,
