00:00Once upon a time, in a land of majestic mountains and lush green fields, lived three Billy Goats Gruff.
00:12There was Big Billy Goat Gruff, Middle Billy Goat Gruff, and Little Billy Goat Gruff.
00:21They were all partners in a family firm called Goat's Gruff, Goat's Gruff, Goat's Gruff.
00:31Their name was quite a mouthful, just like the grass they eagerly devoured.
00:38In fact, as far as the eye could see, they had eaten every field bear.
00:47So, they set off to find a better spot where they could grow contentedly fat on lush new grass.
00:56After travelling over steep mountain tracks and clambering over huge volcanic rocks,
01:02they saw in the distance what they had been hoping for.
01:06Yep, there beyond the river was a magnificent untouched pasture of grass,
01:13which stretched as far as the eye could see.
01:16Great, where do you suppose that magnificent field of grass is untouched by any animals?
01:23Asked Little Billy Goat Gruff, trying to sound intelligent.
01:27After all, you can cross that river by using that bridge,
01:32added Middle Billy Goat Gruff, sounding even less intelligent.
01:37But, interrupted Big Billy Goat Gruff,
01:42Little Billy Goat Gruff was terrified of giants,
01:46but being nimble and light, he decided he could make a dash for it,
01:51over the bridge, without waking up the giant,
01:54and would soon be free of fear.
01:57Little Billy Goat Gruff, however, was not afraid of giants,
02:01because he knew that he would soon be free of fear.
02:05He could make a dash for it, over the bridge, without waking up the giant,
02:09and would soon be filling his tummy to bursting point with lush green grass.
02:16Taking his courage and his things in both hands,
02:20Little Billy Goat Gruff dashed to the bridge,
02:23but his little hooves were not silent on the wooden slats,
02:27and suddenly the giant peered over the top,
02:31very angry and having his sleep disturbed.
02:35Who are you? And where are you going?
02:39Little Billy Goat Gruff's knees started to nickety-nackety-knockety-knoo.
02:44I'm just crossing your bridge to get to that field,
02:48grow fat, and then hopefully you can eat me all up,
02:52if that's okay with you.
02:54The giant was dumbfounded by this creep's behavior.
02:59Oh, you can wait till my brother, Little Billy Goat, crosses the bridge.
03:05He's already much fatter than me.
03:09The giant, a man of imperfect education,
03:13thought this was a very sensible move,
03:17and let the little goat go on his way, before going back to the riverbed.
03:30Little Billy Goat Gruff had watched all this from a distance,
03:34and seeing his little brother munching away in the lush field,
03:39thought it would be safe to cross himself.
03:42He was not so light of foot as his younger brother.
03:46Halfway across the bridge,
03:48Little Billy Goat Gruff's path was suddenly barred by the awakening monster.
03:54Oh, and where do you think you are going?
04:01I was rather hoping to get to the field to eat the grass and grow fat.
04:06Indeed you are not.
04:10You have eaten your last blade of grass,
04:15because now I'm going to eat you all up.
04:22Little Billy Goat Gruff thought as fast as his middle-sized brain would work.
04:28Suppose you wait for a moment, Mr. Giant, sir.
04:33My brother, Big Billy Goat Gruff, will be along.
04:37I'm only three mouthfuls to you, but he's enormously fat,
04:42and would make a splendid meal with red cabbage and mustard.
04:47Jim Giant thanked Little Billy Goat Gruff for the idea and the recipe.
04:52After all, hadn't Little Billy Goat Gruff truthfully said a bigger goat would come along?
04:58Now, all he had to do was wait for the next one.
05:07Never cross this bridge again.
05:11The Giant crept back below the bridge and was soon dreaming of roast goat with parsnip pie.
05:20Suddenly, he awoke at the noise of the most fearful clumping and thumping above his head.
05:31There before him was lunch, breakfast, tea and dinner,
05:37all rolled in one in the shape of the strongest, fattest, meanest, biggest Billy Goat he had ever seen.
05:47Oh, yum, yum!
05:49I am Big Billy Goat Gruff, and I am crossing your bridge.
05:55What do you intend to do about it?
05:58The Giant was thunderstruck by this impertinence.
06:02Oh, no one talk to a Giant that way.
06:08Well, Mr. Big Billy Goat Gruff, you have enjoyed your last mouthful of grass.
06:16The Giant rolled up his sleeves, pulled another knot in his belt,
06:22and grabbed the big goat by his beard.
06:25This infuriated Big Billy Goat Gruff even more,
06:30and he repeatedly butted the Giant in his enormous belly.
06:43Both the Giant and the Billy Goat charged each other from the end of the bridge
06:50meeting in the middle in an incredible tangle of bottoms, beards, horns and fists.
06:57The bridge started to give way under the combined weight,
07:01and as Big Billy Goat Gruff hopped across the gap,
07:05the Giant fell in the river, SPLASH!
07:09and was swept away towards the sea.
07:12The three goats grew fat on the lush grass.
07:42And all the surrounding villages were happy that they could use their new concrete bridge without being attacked.
07:50Except, of course, by Billy Goats.
