00:00A typhoon hit the Philippine Area of Responsibility this morning.
00:05In the latest forecast, two people were hit by the typhoon and eight were injured.
00:10More than 300 houses were destroyed while more than 200,000 individuals were affected.
00:16Among the affected areas, almost 100 tourists are still stranded.
00:21Live on the show, Joseph Boroc.
00:24Joseph.
00:27Emil, for many residents here in Basco, Batanes,
00:31almost no one is left in their homes when the typhoon hit.
00:36Just like this house behind us here in Barangay San Antonio.
00:39Not only that, more than 200 tourists and residents were stranded here in Basco, Batanes because of the typhoon.
00:49From Himbabawit, the effects of the super typhoon Julián in Batanes can be seen.
00:57The natural beauty of the province that was recommended by the tourists
01:00was not temporarily replaced by images of destroyed houses, houses, and villages.
01:06Telecommunications here, because most of the time when the typhoon hits, they cannot contact.
01:17The National Government, the Office of Civil Defense, we strengthened the radio system here.
01:22Some residents want to leave the province because they lost their livelihood.
01:27We don't have income yet, so while we don't have power, but eventually when we have power, we will return here.
01:37But the problem is, there is no commercial flight outside Batanes, so they are stranded here.
01:42Many tourists were also affected by the beautiful vacation they experienced in the typhoon Julián.
01:47They have been stranded in Basco for more than a week.
01:50Jennifer, who is from America and is just on vacation, her trip was canceled five times.
01:56I can really see that the wind is blowing, the clouds are flying on the roof.
02:02Of course, that's my first time to experience that, signal number four.
02:07But despite their efforts, they were able to find a place for themselves among their fellow passengers.
02:13You would think that this group of people have been friends for a long time, but they just met here.
02:18Gerard is from Cagayan de Oro and is just on leave from work.
02:22I might be replaced, I am under HR.
02:25Fortunately, today, a C-130 arrived because the Office of Civil Defense and DSWD brought relief goods and water that the residents need.
02:34Those who want to ride, especially the tourists, are our priority.
02:39If you want to ride, just go to Lawag City.
02:42Of the more than 200 residents and tourists stranded, 70 were the first to board the C-130 leaving Batanes.
02:49Some tourists who were stranded here in Basco, in Batanes, because of the typhoon Julián, already boarded the C-130 of the government.
03:00This is not directed to Manila, but to Lawag first.
03:05They will look for a place to go home to their provinces.
03:10There are also tourists left in Batanes who are still waiting to ride.
03:16According to Batanes Governor Marilu Caico, the National Government has approved the request of the residents of Cagayan de Oro for the damaged houses.
03:25He promised that we will be given iron.
03:29And the DNR will give us around 70,000 board feet of wood from Region 2.
03:46That alone can solve the problem of the damaged houses, the totally and partially damaged houses.
03:57It's free.
03:59Emil, according to the Office of Civil Defense, more than 10,000 tourists left Batanes this afternoon.
04:09And on October 6, relief goods will be added to the province.
04:15Joseph, when is the next trip of the C-130 of DSWD and OCD?
04:20For the tourists and residents who want to leave Batanes, will there be a special flight for them?
04:27Tomorrow, something important will happen here in the province.
04:33So, it's not a priority to send tourists and residents home.
04:39But the locals who want to go to Manila can stay here.
04:46Maybe the next schedule is on Saturday for the residents who want to go to Manila or other parts of the country other than Batanes.
04:55Joseph, for the residents affected by the typhoon, is there any information on when they can receive the materials, iron and wood?
05:03How is the food supply and clean water?
05:10The food supply was pre-positioned by DSWD.
05:14So, when the typhoon hit, the relief goods, the food packs, were ready to distribute during the typhoon.
05:24For the water, it's a bit difficult here.
05:26That's why we sent the OCD mineral water here this morning.
05:32What's the other question, Emil?
05:36This is about the food supply and clean water.
05:46The iron and wood will take time.
05:49It will take 70,000 board feet from the DNR.
05:52It will come from either Region 2 or Cagayan.
05:56But tomorrow, there will be an announcement for the local communities.
06:03The members of ACAP will be called at 8 o'clock tomorrow.
06:07They will be given 10 kilos of rice and aid.
06:12It's ready for them tomorrow, Emil.
06:16Thank you, Joseph Morong.
