00:36Number 10. The Little Mermaid, Copenhagen, Denmark.

00:40We have the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark.

00:45This bronze statue was created by Edvard Eriksson in 1913

00:49and sits picturesquely on a rock overlooking the Copenhagen harbour.

00:53The mermaid statue has become an iconic symbol of the city.

00:58The Little Mermaid measures only 1.25 meters tall,

01:01but her graceful figure and wistful expression captures the imagination of all who gaze upon her.

01:07Number 9. Statue of Unity, India.

01:14The colossal Statue of Unity in Gujarat, India

01:17is the tallest statue in the world at a jaw-dropping 182 meters tall.

01:22This modern engineering marvel was built to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,

01:27an instrumental leader in India's independence and unification movement.

01:32The giant likeness recreates Patel in native garb,

01:35standing tall and proud above the Nirmada river.

01:38Completed in 2018, the mammoth bronze statue

01:42and surrounding memorial complex attracts thousands of visitors each day.

01:46Number 8. Colossus of Rhodes, Greece.

01:50Next up at number 8, we have the ancient Colossus of Rhodes.

01:54This giant, 110-foot-tall statue of the Greek sun god Helios

01:59once stood watch over the harbour on the Greek island of Rhodes.

02:05the massive statue sadly was destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC.

02:25this iconic 98-foot-tall Art Deco statue

02:28has become a globally recognized symbol of Christianity in South America.

02:32The figure of Jesus stands powerfully atop the peak of Corcovado Mountain,

02:37arms outstretched across the sprawling metropolis and Guanabara Bay.

02:41Made of reinforced concrete and soapstone,

02:44the monumental sculpture seems to bless the city and its residents below.

02:49Number 6. The David, Italy.

02:51Our number 6 statue is the David by Renaissance legend Michelangelo.

02:56This 17-foot marble masterpiece is astonishing in its attention to detail

03:01and lifelike rendering of the human form.

03:04The statue has been captivating visitors to Florence's Galleria dell'Accademia since 1873.

03:11Number 5. Spring Temple Buddha, China.

03:15Our next statue dominates its surroundings at a record-setting 420 feet tall.

03:21The Spring Temple Buddha in Lushan County, China

03:24is the tallest statue on our list and in the world.

03:27Completed in 2008, this version of Buddha Virukana

03:31sits serenely on a lotus throne, hand-raised in blessing.

03:35Comprised of over 1,300 bronze castings,

03:38the statue houses a monastery within its chest

03:41and crowds can take an elevator up a level to overlook the countryside.

03:45The mega-monument cost over $55 million to construct

03:49and has become a popular tourist attraction.

03:52Number 4. Statue of Liberty, USA.

03:55Number 4. brings us to the United States and the Statue of Liberty.

04:00Lady Liberty's iconic 305-foot green figure

04:04has welcomed immigrants arriving in New York Harbor since its dedication in 1886.

04:09A universal symbol of freedom,

04:11the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the U.S.

04:15Number 3. Mount Nemrut, Turkey.

04:18The bronze metal spot goes to the ancient heads of Mount Nemrut in Turkey.

04:23Built around 50 BC,

04:25these iconic stone heads are part of a temple complex

04:28created for King Antiochus I of Comagene.

04:31His 50-foot-tall head sits proudly surrounded

04:34by other ancient deities along the mountaintop.

04:37Though weathered over time,

04:39the colossal heads still retain intricate details

04:42like curled hair strands and intricate clothing.

04:45The ancient site was unknown until its excavation in 1881

04:49and now draws crowds who make the pilgrimage to the remote location

04:52to witness the ruins at sunrise and sunset.

04:55Number 2. Christ the King, Poland.

04:58The silver metal goes to the powerful statue of Christ the King in Poland.

05:03Completed in 2010,

05:05this 330-foot-tall Jesus stands vigilantly above the Polish landscape

05:10with arms outstretched.

05:12The monumental scale and striking design leaves a dramatic impression.

05:17Number 1. Great Sphinx of Giza, Egypt.

05:20And taking our top spot for most amazing statue

05:23is the mysterious and magnificent Great Sphinx of Giza.

05:27This ancient statue was carved out of limestone bedrock

05:30around 2500 BC and measures a colossal 240 feet long.

05:35Depicting a mythical creature with the head of a human

05:38and the body of a lion,

05:40the Sphinx is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre guarding his pyramid tomb.

05:44Despite centuries of exposure to the elements,

05:47the Sphinx's proportions and lifelike details remain incredible to behold.

05:52The ancient monument has inspired awe throughout history

05:55and remains shrouded in intrigue.
