00:00Hello viewers and welcome to my channel. I'm Alfred Parker, and today I'm very excited to take you on a tour around the globe to explore the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.
00:12Let's travel this wonderful world with Travel Uncharted. Join us in uncovering the allure of hidden waterfalls, the grandeur of untouched mountains, and the enchantment of ancient forests. Subscribe to my channel, let's journey begin.
00:27These incredible landscapes, formations, and ecosystems showcase the diversity, majesty, and splendor of our natural world. From the depths of the oceans to the peaks of mountains, I'll guide you through each natural wonder and highlight what makes them so special. Get ready for a virtual adventure you won't forget.
00:45Number 1. The Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Our first stop is the Great Barrier Reef, located off the coast of Queensland, Australia. As the largest coral reef system in the world, this natural wonder stretches over 1,400 miles and is home to a breathtaking diversity of marine life.
01:04Over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands comprise this vibrant underwater ecosystem. The reef teems with over 1,500 species of fish, 400 types of coral, 4,000 kinds of molluscs, and much more. Sea turtles, whales, dolphins, sharks, and rays are just a few of the majestic creatures found in the Great Barrier Reef.
01:27One simply must don a wetsuit and snorkel gear to fully experience swimming through this underwater paradise. The vibrant colors and bizarre shapes of the corals against the crystal blue waters is a sight that will be forever etched in your memory. As the only living organism visible from space, the scale and significance of the Great Barrier Reef is truly mind-boggling.
01:49Number 2. The Amazon Rainforest, South America. From the oceans, we now head deep into the heart of South America's Amazon Rainforest. Spanning over 2.1 million square miles, the Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining tropical rainforests.
02:05This jungle wonderland is home to the greatest collection of plants and animals on Earth. Scientists have documented over 40,000 plant species, 3,000 freshwater fish, 1,300 birds, and a whopping 2.5 million insects. Cute and exotic wildlife like monkeys, sloths, toucans, and jaguars call the Amazon home.
02:27Approximately 400 indigenous tribes inhabiting the rainforest rely on this bountiful ecosystem for their survival. Temperatures often exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit with average humidity over 90%. One truly feels transported to another world wandering through the impossibly lush greenery and listening to the cacophony of sounds echoing through the canopy.
02:50The Amazon contains 20% of the world's freshwater and provides 20% of Earth's oxygen. Protecting this natural wonder should be a top global priority.
03:01Number 3 Table Mountain, South Africa. Our next wonder brings us to the breathtaking Table Mountain, located in Cape Town, South Africa. This iconic flat-topped mountain towers 3,500 feet above the city and serves as the gateway to the South African plateau.
03:20The mountain consists of layers of sandstone that date back over 450 million years. Table Mountain provides a mosaic of ecosystems and is home to over 1,470 plant species. You can take a scenic cable car ride up the mountain for panoramic views of Cape Town and Robben Island.
03:41For the adventurous, hiking trails wind their way up challenging rock faces and cliff overhangs. At the top, you'll feel on top of the world as you gaze over the magnificent landscape blanketed in silver trees and golden proteas. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets add magical light over this natural wonder.
04:02Number 4 The Northern Lights, Iceland. Now let's journey to the upper reaches of the Northern Hemisphere to witness the splendor of the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. This dazzling natural phenomenon occurs in polar regions like Alaska, Canada, Iceland, Norway, and more.
04:22The Aurora Borealis happens when electrically charged particles from the sun enter Earth's atmosphere and collide with atoms and molecules. This reaction emits dancing lights that shimmer across the night sky in shades of green, pink, purple, red, yellow, and blue. The movements seem almost supernatural, from slow cascades to rapid flickering bursts.
04:45The indigenous people of northern regions viewed these hypnotic lights as spirits to be honored. Observing the Aurora Borealis is a magical experience that fills you with a sense of tranquility and wonder.
04:59Number 5 Pariquitin Volcano, Mexico. In Mexico, Pariquitin Volcano offers a glimpse at the raw power and energy contained under the Earth's surface. In 1943, the volcano miraculously sprang forth from a cornfield in the state of Michoacán. Smoke, ashes, and lava began shooting over 1,300 feet into the sky.
05:24The burgeoning volcano ultimately buried the nearby village of Pariquitin underneath solidified lava. Over the course of nine years, the volcano grew over 1,300 feet in height. Eventually, the eruption stopped, but visitors can still climb to the summit of Pariquitin and observe the cool lava formations.
05:46Seeing once fertile farmlands completely buried under volcanic rock illustrates the scale and devastation of this natural wonder. While no longer active, Pariquitin offers a window into our dynamic planet.
06:00Number 6 Harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For coastal scenery, few places compare with the magnificent Harbor of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This world-famous natural harbor is surrounded by granite mountains and overlooked by some of Brazil's most iconic landmarks. Sugarloaf Mountain and Corcovado Mountain frame the harbor against the azure waters of the Atlantic.
06:26Spectacular peaks like the Two Brothers Mountains rise straight from the sea. Take a boat tour on the harbor for priceless views of the Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado Mountain. At night, the lights of this concrete wonder glow brightly amid the inky black mountains. Indeed, the contrast between the strong geometric statue and the fluid natural environment highlight what makes this harbor so visually stunning.
06:54Rio's harbor provides the perfect blend of human creation coexisting in harmony with nature's splendor.
07:01Number 7 The Grand Canyon, United States. For our final wonder, we arrive at arguably the most famous canyon on Earth, the Grand Canyon.
07:11Located in Arizona, United States, the Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. This colossal canyon carved by the Colorado River stretches 277 miles long, averaging 10 miles wide, and attains a depth of over a mile.
07:28The exposed ancient rock layers provide a window into geological history dating back nearly two billion years. Layers of vibrant colored rock showcase millions of years of natural excavation. Visitors flock to the Grand Canyon for its immense scale, steep cliffs, and breathtaking vistas.
07:48One can hike remote trails, raft along the Colorado River, or take a helicopter tour to fully absorb the canyon's grandeur from every angle. Without a doubt, the Grand Canyon showcases Earth's raw natural power on a mind-boggling scale.
08:05Well that concludes our tour of the seven natural wonders of the world. From Australia to Mexico to Antarctica, these natural marvels highlight the beauty and diversity of the landscapes and ecosystems on our planet. I hope you enjoyed this virtual voyage and discovered a new appreciation for Mother Nature.
08:24Let me know in the comments which of these wonders you found most magnificent. This is just a sampling of the many awe-inspiring natural sights across the globe. Our world has so much astounding beauty to explore.
