00:00Well, let's go from Jerusalem then live to Beirut. Our correspondent there is Rawad Taha.
00:05Rawad, I don't know if you were hearing there what Iris was reporting from Jerusalem, but
00:11she was giving the Israeli perspective on this ground incursion or invasion by Israel
00:17into the south of Lebanon, which has reportedly begun today. What can you tell us from the
00:22Lebanese side about what is happening?
00:25There hasn't been any confirmation. In fact, actually the total opposite. Hezbollah issued
00:29a statement, mentioned that all the reports about Israeli incursions are not true and
00:36that no incursion into Lebanese territory happened overnight. We've also cross-checked
00:40our information with the Lebanese armed forces. Sources within the Lebanese armed forces mentioned
00:48that no mass movement of Israeli troops occurred into territory inside southern Lebanon overnight.
00:56So it is very possible that given these statements, the footage that we're seeing coming from
01:00Israel could have been of the minor or small incursions in a distance that is very short
01:07that happened across the past year. But according to our sources here, no incursions happened
01:11overnight and no mass movement of troops occurred onto Lebanese territory.
01:17One thing that we can confirm though today, Rawad, is that the Israeli strikes on Beirut,
01:21the city you're in, are very much continuing today. There have been strikes this afternoon.
01:26What can you tell us about those?
01:28The last strike in the afternoon was in an area of Beirut's suburbs. It's an area called
01:35Janah. It's only one kilometre away from central Beirut, so it's much more connected to Beirut
01:41when compared to the rest of Beirut's suburbs, which were receiving most of the hits over
01:46the past few days. This was the first time Janah was attacked. It appears that it was
01:52an attack on a number of apartments. Shortly afterwards, Israel announced that it conducted
02:01what it calls a precision airstrike in Beirut. Usually after such statements, we would expect
02:07that it is some sort of an assassination attempt. Whether that assassination attempt is successful
02:14or not is something that we will be looking into over the next few hours, but no confirmation
02:20of any number of casualties or injuries just yet here in Lebanon on that last airstrike
02:26in Beirut.
02:27Rawad Taha, live in Beirut. Thank you.
