South Eastern Health Trust launches My Care app
Transcript
00:00We find it a really beneficial tool and we're able to communicate directly with
00:07our patients. Patients are able to get access to all their appointments in the
00:12one place so it means it's less confusion and we feel that it has
00:17reduced missed appointment times. Patients are able to get access to not
00:22only their appointments but also results, so blood tests, results of procedures,
00:27doctors letters, they're getting them much quicker than if they were waiting
00:31on a next appointment or waiting on letters coming out in the post. The app is
00:36very secure, it's password protected so you can get in via a password or if
00:41there's biometrics you can use your thumbprint or facial recognition. From a
00:45professional level I've seen the benefit for my patients but also on a personal
00:49level I've downloaded the app myself. I encouraged my mum to download the app
00:53she was able to give me access to it so I also get the notifications on my phone
00:59for her appointments, for her results and which causes her less anxiety and
01:05because I'm able to get these directly to my phone I can ensure that she gets
01:10to her appointments on time and I'm able to feed back her results to her
01:17without her having to wait.
01:21Quite simply this is putting health care into the hands of individuals and
01:26patients. This is their opportunity to access an app on their phone anywhere at
01:32any time to find information about their health care, their health records, their
01:36patient journey and so it is significant, it's a significant breakthrough.
01:41It's actually easy to navigate but I always say to people go in and have a
01:44look even if it's not your trust because it gives you an idea from a health care
01:50profession to know what we are talking about and from a service user and carers
01:54perspective what we're actually seeing that's a game-changer for the NHS but
02:00more importantly for patients because we've got control back.
