00:30Sonnerie, Californie.
00:31Let's approach this sun-soaked paradise, and enjoy the wonders of Hollywood, that fabulous
00:45city of fantasy, fame, fortune, film, and sweater girls.
00:50Oh-oh!
00:51No, sweater girls!
00:52Cheap at half the price, so hold on to your seats and your nearest neighbor, folks, as
01:09we start off by visiting Hollywood Boulevard.
01:21Now watch closely, and you may see some of the stars leisurely sauntering down this quiet
01:26boulevard.
01:27Wow!
01:28Saved by the light, or a reasonable facsimile.
01:40The town's most popular hashery, that quaint bit of haberdashery known as the Brown Derby,
01:48where you eat in a hat and leave your shirt.
01:51Don't get me wrong, folks, it's worth it.
02:08The raw vegetable diet is very popular.
02:17Of course, it promotes good health, and outside the restaurant, traveling in packs and persistently
02:24tracking down the stars are the autograph hounds.
02:27Let's hear what this autograph hound has to say.
02:36The outstanding characteristic of the autograph hounds is patience, and they wait hours and
02:42hours for their favorite stars to appear.
02:45Timidly, humbly, and politely, they beg for a little souvenir or autograph.
02:58The picture studios are next, and on our way, we pass through streets lined with beautiful
03:03buildings, exotic flowers, and outstretched ponds.
03:10Let's watch some of the stars in action.
03:12Rehearsing for their new picture, we find Fred upstairs, and Rita hey, hey.
03:25And here is a studio where animated cartoons are created.
03:29Each day, thousands and thousands of drawings are made.
03:33These people are highly specialized, creative, artistic, and intelligent, and just plain nuts.
03:48The celebrated Chinese theater of worldwide fame.
03:56Here in the forecourt, the famous have left for posterity their souls and heels embedded
04:02in the cement.
04:03And here again, we find the ever-present autograph seekers.
04:09Ah, Beverly Hills, where almost all the homes belong to the stars.
04:30And the FHA, the thin man lives here, and here's the thin man now.
04:42This is the residence of Jack Jenny, star of radio and screen.
04:48The home of Baby Candy, and the home of Dipsy Rose Lee.
05:03Daisy, the canine star of the Blondie pictures, is a near neighbor.
05:11Away from the camera, the stars indulge in their favorite sports.
05:15Joe's famous slow ball.
05:40Nearby Santa Anita racetrack is a favorite playground of the movie great.
05:45Some of whom own their own horses.
05:47Here are a couple of the thoroughbreds talking it over.
05:51Hi, bud.
05:52I belong to Cary Grant.
05:53Who do you belong to?
05:54I belong to Cade Smith.
05:55And this is Malibu, famed screen colony on the Blue Pacific.
05:56Here, basking in the sun, are your favorites old and new.
06:26She must be one of those lovely starlets.
06:28Boy, isn't she gorgeous.
06:31I wonder who she is.
06:42Some of the stars own boats.
06:45Some have canoes.
06:48And of course, there's always a raft around.
06:54The autograph hounds are in again.
07:17You've seen it all.
07:18The beautiful boulevard, renowned restaurants, the stupendous studios, the aesthetic actors,
07:24the glorified glamour girls, the stars at play, their home sweet homes, and the late autograph
07:31hounds.
07:32And so, farewell to Hollywood, where nothing is certain.
07:37Where today's hash slinger is tomorrow's glamour girl.
07:40Where today's heartthrob is tomorrow's dishwasher.
07:44That's the way it is out here.
07:46Nothing is certain.
07:47Except, of course, the sunshine.
