00:40Defending her decision to withdraw from her brother's Senate slate, Senator Aimee Marcos
00:44on Monday, September 30, says she is not trying to navigate two rivers at the same time.
00:49Marcos claims her decision was meant to protect her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,
01:15and safeguard her friends from potential harm.
01:24Senator Marcos pledged her allegiance to the Dutertes after the collapse of the UNITEAM
01:28alliance.
01:29President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. revealed his senatorial slate, which included his sister,
01:33last September 26.
01:37Disgraced former Bamban-Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo vehemently denies allegations she is a
01:42Chinese spy.
01:44This after the House Quad Committee on Friday, September 27, showed Al Jazeera's interview
01:48with Chinese crime gang leader, Xia Zhijiang, who tagged her as a Chinese spy.
02:08Xia Zhijiang, a criminal gambling leader detained in Thailand, accuses Guo of asking
02:13him for campaign funds in 2022.
02:15He also shows a dossier on Guo's alleged real Chinese identity, Guo Huaping.
02:20In the interview, Zhijiang addresses Guo, saying, quote,
02:23"...if you don't want to be eliminated, you should tell the world the truth."
02:29Akpayan Partylist names human rights lawyer Chell Jokno as its first nominee in its re-election
02:34bid at the House of Representatives on Saturday, September 28.
02:37Jokno, who was rumored to be eyeing a third try for the Senate, was sworn in as a member
02:42on September 17.
02:43Jokno says, quote,
02:44"...after thorough reflection, we determined that running under the partylist system is
02:48the most pragmatic path."
02:50Akpayan's announcement comes just days after the Kamalak declared it among the winners
02:54in the 2022 elections.
02:56The proclamation follows the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Kamalak's cancellation
03:00of Anwaray's registration due to a violation of the partylist law.
03:04Akpayan, which was just one rank short of winning a seat in the 2022 partylist race,
03:09moved up a notch.
03:12Typhoon Hulian triggered evacuations, road closures, and the release of dam water across
03:17northern Luzon.
03:18The local governments of Baguio City, Apayao, and Benguet Province ordered shutdowns of
03:22government operations, except for critical disaster response units.
03:26In Abra, 26 families are evacuated following rising water near their homes.
03:31The local disaster response council quickly activated three evacuation centers for displaced
03:36residents.
03:37In Apayao, landslides and rising rivers closed the Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road and the Claveria-Calanasan-Cabugao
03:43Road.
03:44Authorities say it will begin clearing operations once weather conditions improve.
03:48Local governments advise against non-essential travel and warn of further flooding and landslides
03:53as the storm continues.
03:54Classes in Abra, Baguio City, and Benguet are suspended on Monday, September 30.
04:01Overseas Filipino workers in Lebanon urge the Philippine government to fast-track its
04:05repatriation program as tensions and violence continue to escalate between Israel and Lebanese
04:10militant group Hezbollah.
04:12Some OFWs complain about the, quote, very slow process involving the Foreign Affairs
04:17Department, the Department of Migrant Workers, and the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon.
04:21In August, the Philippine Embassy urged Filipinos to leave the country immediately while the
04:25airport remains operational.
04:27OFWs say exit clearances, which are assessed by Lebanon's immigration, are highly dependent
04:33on feedback from their employers, who usually refuse to let them go.
04:37There are over 11,000 documented OFWs in Lebanon.
04:41As of September 15, the DMW says 403 OFWs and 55 dependents have been repatriated from Lebanon.
