00:00Alright, so as we mentioned, today we are going to talk about adjectives.
00:05Let's start at the beginning. What is an adjective?
00:10Wow, that's a great question. You may have heard that word before.
00:13What is an adjective?
00:17Well, this might sound a little weird, but in order to know what an adjective is,
00:22you have to understand what a noun is.
00:24And remember, a noun is a person, place, or thing.
00:28A person, like a doctor, or a place, like a bookstore, or a thing, like a desk.
00:35If it's a person, place, or thing, it's a word that's a noun.
00:40Well, here's where adjectives come in.
00:45Adjectives describe nouns.
00:48Adjectives are words that tell us more about nouns.
00:53So let's look at some adjectives for these nouns that we shared.
01:00The doctor, the bookstore, and the desk.
01:03The doctor. Two adjectives we could use to describe this doctor are tall and smart.
01:12Tall and smart describe this doctor, and the doctor is the noun.
01:19Remember, bookstore is a noun, too. It's a place.
01:23What are two adjectives that we could use?
01:26Well, one adjective could be the word fancy.
01:29This looks like a pretty fancy little bookstore.
01:33And it also looks like it could be friendly.
01:36Friendly is another adjective we could use to describe this bookstore.
01:42Fancy and friendly are adjectives that describe the noun.
01:47Well, what about this desk?
01:50Well, two adjectives that could describe this desk are clean and tan.
01:56Clean because you can see it's not a dirty desk.
02:00And also tan because that's the color of the desk.
02:05That describes the color of the desk.
02:08This is a tan desk.
02:11Tan and clean are adjectives. They're describing the nouns.
02:16All of these words you see are adjectives.
02:19Tall, smart, fancy, friendly, clean, and tan.
02:25Adjectives are pretty fun.
02:28All you have to remember is adjectives describe nouns.
02:33Now let's practice using adjectives to describe nouns.
02:38Look at this picture.
02:39These girls. How would we describe these girls?
02:43Well, some adjectives we could use, we could use the adjective happy.
02:48They look pretty happy. Look at those big smiles.
02:51What else would describe them?
02:54Do they look clean or do they look messy?
02:58Yeah, they look pretty messy.
03:00Messy is another adjective.
03:02Happy and messy describe these girls.
03:09That was a pretty good job.

03:18Well, he looks a little angry, doesn't he?
03:22Angry describes him.
03:24That means angry could be a good adjective.
03:29What's another adjective?
03:31Is this toy very big?
03:34Look at this toy compared to the grass.
03:36This toy is pretty tiny.
03:38Tiny describes the toy in this picture.
03:42So the two adjectives we could use are angry and tiny.

04:07They seem to reach all the way up to the sky, it looks like from this picture.
04:11They're very tall.
04:13Something else about these trees, and we can tell this because of just how tall they are,
04:18they must be very old as well.
04:21These are old trees.
04:23These aren't young little saplings.
04:25These trees are tall and old.
04:28Tall and old are adjectives describing the trees.
04:34Oh, wow, look at this picture.

04:57That's an adjective we could use, right?
05:00What's another adjective we could use?
05:03Look at the color. What is the color of the water?
05:06Yeah, blue.
