00:00Welcome to Pinehurst number four.
00:02This is my favorite golf course
00:04in the entire state of North Carolina.
00:06You just saw my first tee shot in the 13th hole,
00:08which is a beautiful par five.
00:10We're gonna get back to that.
00:11We filmed on three holes here,
00:12which is probably the most picturesque stretch
00:15of golf on Pinehurst number four.
00:17But that's tough company, man, to be my favorite.
00:19It's a little bit fluid.
00:20I change that occasionally
00:21because there's so much good golf,
00:22but it's currently my favorite golf course
00:23in North Carolina.
00:24And that area alone is difficult.
00:26You got Pinehurst number two, number 10, number eight.
00:27You got Mid Pines, Pine Hills, Southern Pines,
00:29Backhoe Road, Dormey Club, Country Club of North Carolina,
00:31Forest Creek, all kinds of good stuff around there.
00:33This is an original 1919 Donald Ross.
00:36This bad boy was reopened after a redesign
00:39from Gil Hance in 2018.
00:41It's hosted the U.S. Amateur a few different times
00:43along with number two.
00:44It's a fantastic golf course.
00:45We're gonna start on the 13th hole.
00:47We're playing from the white tees today, 64-28.
00:49Total yardage on the white tees, so not the longest.
00:52This is a par five, 504 yards.
00:53We got the mini driver.
00:54You gotta avoid a bunker down the right,
00:55and you gotta avoid water all down the left.
00:57That's why I'm hitting the mini driver.
00:58I don't wanna hit a good drive up the left
00:59that goes into the water.
01:00We hit a good one here, a nice tight draw down the right.
01:02Just drew inside of that bunker.
01:04Second shot, we find ourselves about 250 yards out.
01:06This is a round-defining move that you make here.
01:10If you just hit it out to the right,
01:11I've played here enough, it's actually beautiful.
01:13A beautiful little look in.
01:14It's a lot easier to clear.
01:16I would have to be bold with this club.
01:17I got the mini driver in to go right at the green.
01:19So I kinda hit it right where I was aiming,
01:21just out to the right.
01:22It leaves a pretty simple little pitch
01:24that should give you a nice little look for birdie.
01:26I had a 54-degree wedge here.
01:28Hit a decent one, you know, 10, 12 feet past the hole,
01:30but putting back uphill at it
01:32and hit just a delightful putt here.
01:34I was kind of in the zone feeling myself.
01:36Another great thing about Pioneer Summer 4,
01:38you kinda notice it.
01:39The pins, the scorecard, the ball markers, the benches.
01:42Sugarloaf did an excellent job with the branding,
01:45which adds to the entire experience.
01:46Another thing that's gonna add
01:47to your entire experience of your life
01:49is an easy-go golf cart.
01:50Nobody makes golf carts better than easy-go.
01:53In your entire life, your happiness as a human being
01:56is improved the more time that you spend in a golf cart.
01:58I've got an easy-go down in Pioneer's.
02:00I take it into the village to get coffee.
02:01I take it to Lisi Italian for dinner
02:03or the Pioneer's Brewing Company for dinner.
02:05You just drive it around, you enjoy yourself,
02:07and you can enter to win a brand-new easy-go Express S4.

02:18Enter to win a brand-new easy-go Express S4.
02:20It's that simple, and these things are awesome.
02:22Nobody makes golf carts better than easy-go.
02:24We're on to the 14th hole.
02:26This is a difficult one.
02:27Pin, luckily, is in kind of the back right,
02:29so it doesn't bring the water as into play.
02:31We're into the wind,
02:32and the wind is a little bit off the left.
02:34I've got a 5-iron here from 181.
02:36I think it was played a little closer to 190 or so.
02:38I made a nice swing, as you can tell.
02:40Beautiful balance. That's perfect.
02:42Pretty good swing.
02:42Kind of a little Victor Hovland pull cut.
02:44Obviously not Victor Hovland, but he does pull cut it,
02:46and this was a good shot, so I'm gonna invoke him here.
02:49This one was excellent.
02:50Landed right near the pin, rolled just past it.
02:52Butterwall.
02:53That's a good one.
02:57Best thing in the world is an early Butterwall.
03:00Turtles.
03:01There are a bunch of turtles, dude.
03:03Hey, turtles.
03:06Hey, bud.
03:07You guys see that 5-iron?
03:09Hey.
03:10Did you guys see that?
03:11Pretty good.
03:13Got a nice little right-to-lefter here,
03:14and I was just kind of on when I was on a streak right here.
03:17Hit this putt.
03:18Looking pretty good.
03:19Little stutter step there.
03:20Little stutter step, but bang!
03:21200 through two.
03:23That doesn't happen very often,
03:24so we're pretty fired up.
03:25And again, this little stretch right here,
03:26this is another reason that I love Pioneer's number four.
03:28It starts and finishes at the main Pioneer's clubhouse
03:30right at the main campus,
03:31so you get that same kind of experience
03:33that you get with a lot of the courses at Pioneer's,
03:34where you've got the energy, the heat map
03:36of the Fistle Dew putting course, the cradle,
03:39the 18th hole at Pioneer's number two,
03:40the first and 18th tees of Pioneer's number four.
03:43It's just an awesome spot.
03:44Pioneer's number four has all of that, so it's excellent.
03:46It's got the bones of a Donald Ross course.
03:48It's got sort of that contemporary touches of Gil Hance.
03:50It's got all the characteristics of Pioneer's,
03:53and then it's probably even a little bit more picturesque
03:54than number two, as it goes around this pond,
03:57and it's awesome.
03:57The 15th hole is a little bit more nondescript.
03:59It's only 331.
04:01You do have this cool tee box down by the water,
04:03but you just kind of send driver.
04:04It's a wide fairway.
04:05I pulled this one.
04:06I actually missed the fairway.
04:07I was in the rough.
04:08If you hit it right at the flag,
04:09and you hit a good, bold one,
04:10you can kind of catch a little bit of a down slope
04:11and get it up near the green,
04:13but I pulled this one in a left rough,
04:14so we got 78 yards in out of this kind of rough stuff.
04:17Front pin, I got a 54 degree wedge.
04:19Pretty decent swing.
04:20Wasn't sure how it was gonna come out.
04:22It came out just a little bit dead, a little bit short,
04:24so we got a decent look from the fringe here
04:25from maybe 15, 20 feet.
04:27Thought this was gonna move a little bit to the right.
04:29It kind of stayed out there to the left.
04:30Tap this one in, 200 through three on a video.
04:33That feels good.
04:34That feels excellent.
04:35I pretty much always play Pioneer's number four
04:37as the sun is setting,
04:38which is a delightful experience.
04:39We always get this picture,
04:40this look coming up the 18th hole
04:42with the clubhouse in the background and the lights, dark.
04:45Just an awesome experience.
04:46I live for Pioneer's number four.
04:48You gotta play it.
04:49If you go down to Pioneer's, don't sleep on number four,
04:51and don't sleep on getting yourself
