Fighting Maroons  rally to beat Soaring Falcons  The UP Fighting Maroons stay perfect at 5-0 after turning back the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 69-57, in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sept. 28, 2024. The league-leading Fighting Maroons overcame a 22-point, 9-31, deficit enroute to the win and deal the fourth seed Soaring Falcons their third loss in six games. 00:00Post-game press conference. Congratulations to the UP Fighting Maroons for beating the Danzonsoy Falcons 69-57.

00:08The Fighting Maroons are undefeated in five games.

00:12We have Coach Godwin Monteverde, Terrence Fortea, and Kenty Maniola-Brown.

00:19Coach Godwin, congratulations for this victory.

00:23But you were able to catch up from 22 points deficit in the first half,

00:28and then you were able to recover in the second half and led by a small 16 points.

00:32So, what did you say to the boys in the halftime?

00:38Well, sometimes there are games where we were really trying to execute offensively in the first half.

00:44But then a few shots weren't coming and it was not falling in.

00:49So, what we talked about was to stick to the game plan,

00:53work as a team, work from time to time for shots.

00:57At the same time, on the other hand, of course, there were a lot of things that happened in the first half.

01:01So, we had to remind ourselves to continue to work for it.

01:06Thank you to Terrence. You have 13 points on par for field goal shooting, five rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

01:14So, you were one of the susies in the third quarter.

01:19So, what did you say when you saw the victory?

01:22And double dividends even though Adlon had an advantage in the 22 points.

01:26Actually, it's not okay.

01:28Maybe it's because we didn't look at it.

01:32Maybe it's just a bonus on my side that I was able to shoot a 20-0.

01:37But maybe it's still assetting.

01:40That's why we won.

01:45And UMD, you had 11 points, 14 rebounds tonight.

01:51So, what can you say about your team effort?

01:55After that first quarter, I thought that we did a great job responding.

01:59I thought that on the first quarter, we came out of the stagnant flat.

02:02Couldn't get shots.

02:03Wasn't getting shots on defense from the game plan that we had planned for.

02:07But I thought that there was a great response by everyone to understand our shots are going to come

02:12and to just stay patient and ready for when the time came.
