PM Shehbaz Sharif's Important Address At UN General Assembly | Israel Palestine Conflict
Transcript
00:00And he said, O my father, I have seen eleven planets and the sun and moon bound to me.
00:15He said, O son, do not tell your story to your brothers, they will devise a scheme for
00:22you.
00:23The devil is the enemy of humans.
00:26Mr. President, it's a matter of great honor for me to address the United Nations General
00:33Assembly for the second time as the Prime Minister of a country that has always been
00:40a proactive member of the UN Assembly.
00:46I would like to congratulate you and wish you all the success, Mr. President, on your
00:53election as the President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
01:00I would also like to appreciate the efforts of Ambassador Dennis Francis for his skillful
01:08stewardship of the 78th session of the UNGA.
01:15Mr. President, the father of our nation, Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, declared
01:22in 1947 that we stand by the United Nations Charter and will gladly make our full contribution
01:32to peace and prosperity of the world.
01:36Pakistan has stood by this commitment unwaveringly.
01:42Today, we are facing most daunting challenges to the world order – Israel's genocidal
01:50war in Gaza, a dangerous conflict in Ukraine, destructive conflicts across Africa and Asia,
02:01rising geopolitical tensions, resurging terrorism, galloping poverty, stifling debt and the mounting
02:11impact of climate change.
02:14We feel the chill of a new world order.
02:19In response to these challenges, our Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, called for the Summit of
02:27the Future.
02:29It led to the adoption of the 54 Actions on Development, Peace and Security, Technology
02:36and Global Governance in the Pact of the Future.
02:41Mr. President, today I stand before you to express the searing pain and anguish of the
02:50people of Pakistan at the plight of the people of Gaza.
02:55Our heart bleeds as we witness the tragedy unfolding in the Holy Land, a tragedy that
03:04shakes the very conscience of humanity and the foundation of this institution.
03:11Mr. President, can we, as human beings, remain silent while children lie buried under the
03:19rubble of their shattered homes?
03:22Can we turn a blind eye to mothers cradling the lifeless bodies of their children?
03:29This is not just a conflict.
03:31This is systematic slaughter of innocent people of Pakistan.
03:37Ladies and gentlemen, an assault on the very essence of human life and dignity, the blood
03:49of Gaza's children, stains the hands of not just the oppressors but also those who are
03:56complicit in prolonging this cruel conflict.
04:00When we ignore their endless suffering, we diminish our humanity.
04:07It is not enough to condemn, Mr. President, we must act now and demand an immediate end
04:15to this bloodshed.
04:16We must remember that the blood and sacrifice of the innocent
04:30Palestinians will never go waste.
04:33We must worry about their plight and difficulties and stand by them.
04:42We must work for a durable peace through a two-state nation.
04:47We must seek a viable, secure, contiguous and sovereign state of Palestine based on
04:55the pre-1967 borders with al-Quds al-Sharif as its eternal capital and to advance the
05:03goals Palestine must also be immediately admitted
05:18as a full member of the United Nations.
05:23In a span of a few days, Israel's unrelenting bombing of Lebanon has killed over 500 people
05:33including women and even small children.
05:37The failure to implement UN resolutions has emboldened Israel.
05:43It threatened to drag the entire Middle East into a war whose consequences could be very
05:50grave and beyond imagination.
