00:00As part of the Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week,
00:04our countrymen in the Caragas region
00:07have expanded their knowledge on the disease, Cerebral Palsy.
00:11This is Jennifer Gaitan, of PIA Caragas, at the center of the news.
00:17The Regional Committee on Disability Affairs
00:21led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Caragas
00:24has intensified and expanded the distribution of important information
00:27so that the public can better understand the various health conditions,
00:30especially those with cerebral palsy,
00:32which is a neurological condition
00:34that results in difficulty or imbalance
00:36and abnormal movements of various parts of the body.
00:39According to Shika Lansang,
00:41Registered Occupational Therapist and Certified Developmental Play Practitioner,
00:45the presence of cerebral palsy in babies
00:48can be avoided if the condition of the uterus is detected
00:50and it can also be prevented
00:52with the help of early detection
00:54through some medical or assessment tests.
00:57The DSWD of Caragas has given a warning
00:59that cerebral palsy is not contagious
01:01and those who have it
01:03have the right to live without discrimination.
01:06Recognize their rights that they are part of the community
01:10and they have their skills,
01:13they have capacities,
01:14they have different talents and that.
01:15It is important for them to share information
01:20about a physical disability in a child
01:24that can detect if your child or one of your family members
01:29has cerebral palsy.
01:32This year, the 21st anniversary of Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week
01:37was celebrated from September 16 to 22,
01:39in accordance with Proclamation No. 858
01:42passed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,
01:45Jennifer Pena Gaetano of the Philippine Information Agency, Caragas,
01:49for Pambansang TV in the Philippines.
