00:23Yes, Angelique, after more than four years of waiting,
00:28finally, thousands of motorists consider this the longest sea-crossing bridge here in Mindanao.
00:42The so-called Bay Bridge was ridden by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:49this morning,
00:51it is part of the formal inauguration of the so-called longest sea-crossing bridge in Mindanao
00:58with the President, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
01:02After the drive-thru, the President also led the unveiling of marker and ribbon-cutting ceremony
01:09as the so-called Bay Bridge in the important Infrastructure Flagship Projects or IFP
01:15under the Build Better More Program of Marcos Jr. Administration.
01:20For the President, this is a dream come true.
01:24Today, the waiting is ended.
01:27We are here for the inauguration of the Pangil Bay Bridge Project,
01:31a day that we have long looked forward to.
01:34If we take all the time from the very moment of conception of this bridge until today,
01:41it has been four decades.
01:44That is why we continuously are commenting on the fact that how happy all of us are to be here today
01:56to open this bridge so that it can service both the Misamis Occidental side and the Danau Del Norte side
02:04and the advantages that it will bring.
02:08Years of planning, months of hard work, countless hurdles,
02:12and now we stand before the realization of one of the infrastructure flagship projects of this administration.
02:20Costing more than 8 billion pesos,
02:23this 3.2-kilometer project is now the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao.
02:30The Pangil Bay Bridge was built in February 2020,
02:34costing more than 8 billion pesos under a loan agreement between the Philippine government and the Korean Export-Import Bank.
02:43In his State of Nation Address last July, President Marcos emphasized the importance of connectivity in Mindanao,
02:51specifically mentioning the Pangil Bay Bridge as one of the two major spans to be opened.
02:58That day is today.
03:00The completion of this project exemplifies the success of the Build Better More Program
03:06and demonstrates the government's unwavering commitment to the development of Mindanao.
03:11Due to the fact that the previous 2-hour trip from Tubud to Mindanao del Norte to Tanamis Occidental will be a two-way,
03:24this two-lane bridge is 3.1 kilometers long.
03:28The infrastructure will help people move faster,
03:32as well as the products and services that will help the development of the region.
03:37According to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bunuan,
03:40the bridge was designed to withstand the magnitude 8 earthquake.
03:44To ensure regular maintenance and structural integrity,
03:48two observatory bays are positioned on each side of the pylons.
03:52The lighting system includes 120 lamps and advanced features to improve visibility and ensure safer nighttime travel.
04:02Over the past four administrations, we have embarked on this remarkable journey.
04:09Today, under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos,
04:13our efforts have successfully led to the completion of this vital infrastructure,
04:19which is now ready to unveil.
04:41We sincerely thank you, Mr. President,
04:43that the project was fully implemented and completed during your tenure.
04:48Thank you, Mr. President, for supporting and expediting the implementation of the project
04:53within 27 months in your administration.
05:01The completion of the project will surely contribute to the attainment of our provincial vision
05:06of living peacefully, progressively, and happily.
05:17This project is a shining example of how the Bagong Pilipinas Campaign can transform lives and communities.
05:27For me, the Bagong Pilipinas Campaign is not just about infrastructure.
05:33It is about creating a principled, accountable, and dependable government that works for the people.
05:42Angelic, aside from the assistance provided by this project,
05:47to speed up the journey of the vehicles here,
05:50the residents are also happy with the presence of Pangil Bay Bridge,
05:55which will be an additional attraction for the place where they expect tourists to visit,
06:02here in Northern Mindanao.
06:04DPWH will continue to coordinate with law enforcement agencies
06:08so that the condition of Pangil Bay Bridge will remain safe and sound.
06:15Live from Tubud, Lanao del Norte, I am Jay Lagang for Pambansang TV in Bagong Pilipinas.
