00:00Chiefs beat the Falcons 22-17, Scotty, last night on Sunday Night Football.
00:08Now, the Falcons had, I guess you would like to call it, several opportunities to win this
00:13game.
00:14Is that a fair statement, I guess you could make?
00:16Several opportunities?
00:17Now, they had the drive, their second to last drive of the game, where I'm pretty sure that
00:22was pass interference on Kyle Pitts when he was going for that touchdown in the end zone.
00:27Should have been first to goal the one, but no flag.
00:29They don't kick the field goal, they don't get it on fourth down, they give it back to
00:33Kansas City.
00:34They drive down again, Scotty, inside the 20-yard line, and they have a fourth and very
00:40short with about a minute left to try to extend the game.
00:44Here it is.
00:45Westwood won sports last night.
00:46The ball right now is in between the 12 and the 13, the marker is right at the 12.
00:53Fourth down and a half yard, Robinson and Algier in the game.
00:57Split backfield behind Cousins.
01:00Cousins goes under center.
01:02Cousins takes the snap.
01:03Hand off Robinson, sweeping left into the backfield and he is stopped.
01:07Oh, no.
01:08Oh, what a disaster.
01:10And then my buddy, as you know, I have a huge Falcons friend in Atlanta, and basically,
01:18I think what he did was, he complained all day about it.
01:22He said today, it was our own fault, even with all the spilled milk.
01:27I cried about, they had a shot if they would have kicked the field goal instead of going
01:31for it and then stopped them.
01:33And all they would have had to do is kick a field goal there at the end instead of handing
01:36it to Bijan Mustard, hoping for the first down.
01:40It's always something goes wrong for this team.
01:45It really is.
01:46When do they ever catch a break?
01:48I mean, they don't.
01:49They lost the Super Bowl.
01:51Matt Ryan never got it done, even though he was a great quarterback for them.
01:55And now, here they are, losing games.
01:59They should have won that game.
02:00And you got the champs on the ropes, and you end up losing again, because they always end
02:05up losing.
02:08They always end up losing.
02:09And look, it's obviously, at the end, it's easy to sit there and say, oh, they should
02:14have kicked the field goal the first time, then they could have kicked the field goal
02:16the second time, and they would have won the game by a point.
02:19That's nice to say, but don't we always scream and yell at these guys to go for it when they're
02:24down five points?
02:26Everybody wants them to go.
02:28Everybody always wants them to go.
02:29Go for it.
02:30Go for it.
02:31Yeah, they got jobbed on the pitch play.
02:33It should have been a flag, and it should have been first and goal at the one.
02:36But that's the price to do in business when you're playing the Kansas City Chiefs.
02:40All right.
02:41That's the way that it goes.
02:42All right.
02:43You get those calls all the time.
02:44So, I didn't have a problem with him going for it, Scotty, the first time.
02:48My problem was, on that play that we just played, that dopey sweep or whatever that
02:53was to the outside, to B. John Robinson, you've got that bigger guy.
02:57Algier is like a hammer.
02:59Like, I don't know why you didn't just send Algier up the middle like a hammer and try
03:04to get the yard and a half, two yards that way.
03:06It made no sense to me, what the play calling.
03:09That was my problem.
03:10I'll be honest.
03:11I mean, running it now on fourth down, no matter who's carrying the bread, it's a difficult
03:18task in the NFL.
03:20When they line up and they get tight on a fourth down at the line of scrimmage, it is
03:27brutal to get even a half a yard, let alone two yards.
03:32So I don't like either guy running the ball there.
03:36I'm going to throw it in the slant, in the flat.
03:39I'm going to go outside.
03:42I'm going to try to get some space because there are no holes when it's fourth and that
03:47distance and they crunch in and then, you know, the Eagles have their tush, right?
03:53But they're the only ones that can make it work.
03:55And I don't know if it still works with the new kid at center, but very few teams can
03:59get those yards, Mike.
04:02It's tough in the NFL.
04:03I saw it yesterday.
04:05The Steelers and Chargers both have great running games and they couldn't get it going.
04:09The Steelers got it going late, but at the end of the day, they had like 100 and some
04:13yards rushing and the Chargers didn't because the Steelers wouldn't let them have anything.
04:20So I think it's hard to run in the NFL nowadays with defense.
