00:00The Social Security System, or SSS, is having a banner year, posting close to 2.5 million new members added to its rolls in the month of July alone.
00:10Thus, a 4 to 5 million total haul by year's end is well within reason or expectation.
00:18Hence, SSS President and CEO Rolando Jake Makasait is brimming with optimism on a sustained growth trajectory in the final quarter as it seeks a historic or record number of new members capped in the last three months.
00:33In fact, SSS had already hit its target at mid-year from January to July.
00:40SSS posted a 165% surge in new membership, chalking up 2.4 million new ones from the 923,000 recruited for the same period last year.
00:53Historically, SSS has averaged a million new members annually, but for 2024, 2 million is the mark.
