00:00There used to be at least 100 yards of beach and a dune protecting them from the ocean many,
00:05many years ago when they were built. Video journalist Jenny Kuntz explains,
00:10now these houses are sitting in water that they were never meant to be in.
00:14Five homes in Rodanth, North Carolina have been swallowed by the sea. The coastal erosion and
00:20storms have been forcing the foundations into the Atlantic since September 15th.
00:25Kuntz says the rate of coastal erosion in the picturesque community of Rodanth
00:30has reached startling levels, approximately 13 feet per year.
