00:00Well, Joe Biden called for peace in Lebanon and an end to the conflict in Gaza during
00:05his final United Nations General Assembly speech as U.S. president.
00:10Many Palestinians and their supporters are disappointed with the Biden administration's
00:14position on the conflict and its support for Israel, while our correspondent Ken Brown
00:19spoke to the Palestinian ambassador to Spain.
00:27When Biden's speech left a lot to be desired, it was very one-sided, as always.
00:33It was quite tepid.
00:34It was not the speech of a president of one of the world's great powers that wants to
00:38remain a great world power.
00:40To do so, you have to act like one, not just boast about being one.
00:47What is the importance of this brand new position as Palestinian ambassador to Spain?
00:53I wanted to thank Spain, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, and also others who have recently
01:04recognized the state of Palestine.
01:06This is a cause for celebration, but at the same time, it's a moment of sadness and pain.
01:12Pain for the death, destruction and suffering that our people are still enduring.
01:17As a result of the genocide being committed by the state of Israel in the Gaza Strip and
01:22in the West Bank.
01:23And now we have another chapter of Israeli aggression in Lebanon, which they have started.
01:37Spain, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia have all recognized a Palestinian state.
01:43But Gaza, the assault in Gaza continues.
01:47What does it mean and why is it important for countries to recognize a Palestinian state?
01:57They've opened this door of the possibility that the two state solution is real and not
02:01just words without meaning.
02:03Many of our European friends, the United States and others, talk about the two state solution.
02:09But this is very misleading because there is a state of Israel that has existed for
02:1476 years and a state that is still missing is the state of Palestine.
