00:00According to what we're hearing, there are no real talks, and the big question is if Qatar is really doing this because it has come to the understanding that there's simply nothing can advance, or as a way to put pressure on Hamas.
00:16This due to pressure coming from the United States. We know that it was about two weeks ago when there was a proposal for what was known here as a small deal.
00:26A small number of hostages will be released from Gaza in return to a short time, maybe 14 days or so, of a ceasefire.
00:35And once Hamas said no, there was fury in the United States, and the Americans perhaps put pressure on Qatar.
00:44This report about Qatar freezing or suspending its mediation attempts came a few hours after another report surfaced saying that Qatar has asked the leaders of Hamas to leave Doha.
00:58It's a report that has been since denied, but still, this is something that is surfacing, possibly maybe some kind of information about the Hamas leaders being asked to leave Doha.
01:11Now this comes as the other report saying that for the moment Qatar is suspending its mediation attempts.
01:18So is it some way to put pressure on the leaders of Hamas? Perhaps. Is it some way to signal to the Americans that Qatar understands their needs?
01:28Also might be the case, whatever it is, on the table at the moment there's no real proposal to move forward.
01:35And a damning editorial in one of Israel's biggest newspapers over the Gaza campaign.
01:42Yes, it's called Haaretz, it's an Israeli daily associated with the left wing of the political echelon in Israel.
01:57And according to that editorial Israel is proceeding with what is being known here as the plan of the major generals.
02:04That's how it's called in Israel. A plan basically saying that Israel has to one way or another to clean the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
02:14By cleaning meaning to not allow the residents to come back or allow only a short number of residents to come back according to the editorial.
02:24This is the main purpose of the actions now being seen in places like Jabalia, Bethlehem, all of them in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
02:34Where residents are being evacuated and there's a very strong blockade.
02:40And according to this editorial the extent of the damage in these areas is such that residents will simply not be able to go back.
02:52According to the Israeli army this is all part of the, there's no plan whatsoever to not allow residents to come back.
03:01But this is due to military operations, due to the tough fighting in the area.
03:06According to the editorial and according to other factors in the international community.
03:12The aim, the Israeli aim is trying to prevent the return of residents to the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
03:19Officially Israel is strongly denying this report.
