00:00He doesn't have the historical damage in his mind about this Braves team.
00:05For him, the Braves are just the Braves.
00:07Yes, maybe they were good, but he doesn't feel the angst that all of you Mets fans feel
00:13from these Braves.
00:14He doesn't have that.
00:15It's a different angst, though.
00:16That's the thing.
00:17The Mets players who are part of the 2022 team, certainly they should remember what
00:22happened two years ago.
00:23We all do.
00:24They should remember the missed opportunity that was those three games that they played.
00:28And it's interesting.
00:29I was listening to Andrew Thomas, and trust me, it's related.
00:32Andrew Thomas was meeting the media yesterday, and he was asked, hey, do you think about
00:3740-0 to the Dallas Cowboys?
00:38Is that something that you're going to think about as extra motivation?
00:42And Andrew was kind of giving an answer of, well, everybody's different.
00:45Some guys do think about that.
00:46I'm sure as a player, you saw that.
00:48And it's like some guys think about it.
00:50Some guys don't.
00:51You just got to think about this one game.
00:53And I think the Mets should be asked the same damn question.
00:56If you were part of the 2022 team and you were part of that collapse that got swept
01:00by the Atlanta Braves, are you thinking about it?
01:02Do you go into this series saying we owe these sons of bitches?
01:05We got to beat this team.
01:06Obviously, there's a handful of guys that have nothing to do with it.
01:08You're right.
01:09Luis Severino wasn't here.
01:10Jose Iglesias wasn't here.
01:12But Luis Severino has his own demons, is my point.
01:14And just because we forgot about it because we haven't talked about it in two years doesn't
01:18mean they don't exist.
01:19Luis Severino was not a good postseason pitcher.
01:22Those are just the numbers.
01:23We all remember it.
01:23Yankee fans, even Mets fans who watch from afar.
01:26We remember it.
01:27And so for him, those demons may not be the Atlanta Braves.
01:31It may not be Matt Olsen.
01:32It may not be Travis Darnot.
01:34It may not be Truist Park.
01:36But it's those big moments where Yankee fans know he came up small.
01:41He's not worried about history.
01:42He's not worried about things of the past.
01:44And most of the guys that are hangovers from that 2022 season, I'm going to say they don't
01:49care.
01:49I don't think Pete cares.
01:50That's not in his mind.
01:52It's not his personality to care about what happened in the past.
01:54Francisco Lindoro, who knows if he even plays.
01:56But he's been so damn good this year.
01:59He's not worried.
01:59Oh, God, we got beat up in 2022.
02:02He's not thinking about that.
02:03Francisco Alvarez was a baby when he came up in that game.
02:06He was also 0 for 12 in those three games.
02:07It doesn't matter.
02:08He was put in a terrible spot.
02:09We all knew it, right?
02:10And it's what it is.
02:11So I don't think anybody's thinking about it except for the fans.
02:14The players aren't worried about the most immediate history with the Braves in a playoff
02:20ish type situation.
02:21You don't think players think of revenge?
02:23I don't think they're thinking of revenge.
02:25I think they're saying if we win two of these two games, it's a wrap.
02:29Yeah, period.
02:31It's wrapped.
02:32That's what that's what's more important.
02:33Forget history.
02:34What's more important is what's in front of us.
