00:00A digital twin of the ocean is a replica, a digital replica of the real ocean.
00:08We play with it to understand what could be the impact of our action.
00:11We put plastic, for instance, and we see where the plastic goes.
00:17The technology is ready.
00:18We are mastering all this digital technology.
00:21We have artificial intelligence. We have modeling.
00:23So all the science, all the investments made during these two decades
00:27such as satellites flying, researchers developing models,
00:31operational services such as EMONet or such as Copernicus Marine in Europe,
00:36they are good investments.
00:38But so then with all the digital technology, this is ready to do more and be faster.
00:43And the other one, because it's not enough, is that the demand is there.
00:47The ocean is higher and higher on the political agenda.
00:50We have the United Nations Conference on the Ocean.
00:53We have political leaders taking care of this.
00:55We have agreements that suddenly are rich on the preservation
01:00and the restoration of the ocean.
01:02We have in the European Commission a cross-cutting mission ocean
01:05to restore our ocean and waters.
01:07That is cross-cutting all the digits.
01:09So the ocean is really higher and higher.
01:11So the policymakers, they are asking us about the ocean,
01:14and we are ready to respond to them.
01:16So this is what is going on, technology and demand.
01:19We meet today.
