00:30a part of such a beautiful project. I enjoyed the movie immensely. It just came out uplifted.
00:36It was beautiful.
00:38Thank you very much. I wanted to do it precisely because it was beautiful. I thought it was
00:44beautiful too. And the book by Peter Brown is just, it is as beautiful as the movie.
00:52We kept the essence of that book and it's imaginative and sweet and has a beautiful
00:56message about kindness being important and a force to reckon with. And it's timeless.
01:02You know, it feels even though it's about a robot in the near future, it feels like
01:06a story that has always existed. And I wanted to be a part of something like that.
01:13It will continue to exist just as you say. So what was this experience of giving your
01:19voice to a character like Ross, the process of finding the right tone, the texture to
01:25it? It's a robot, but it's filled with emotions. It's beautiful the way you did that.
01:32Thank you very, very much. When we started, I asked Chris what it was that he liked about
01:39what, why he thought I was right for the role. And he said he liked the warmth of my voice.
01:44He felt like it could convey a lot of nurturing. And so we knew that Ross would always end
01:49up sounding more like me, but I wanted her voice to kind of, I wanted to convey the journey
01:57she goes on, the changes she goes on as a character. So at the start, I was inspired
02:02by the AI voices of Alexa and Siri because of how positive they are, how bright, everything's
02:10always okay with them. And then as she adapts to the island, she takes on more of the characteristics
02:16of the animals she's with, and she finds that more nuanced, textured, maternal sound.
02:28It's lovely. And everything is full of love in this movie. And I think that's the biggest
02:32message. So what about your favorite part of this experience, making the wild robot?
02:39I mean, I think it was the true collaboration that I had with Chris Saunders, the writer
02:45and director. I really didn't want to be a part of a project where I was just an executor,
02:50where it's just my, you know, I just walk into the booth and just say the words on the
02:53page. I was welcomed to participate in the development of the script. And my thoughts
03:01were often taken into consideration. And I could see how my contributions were helping
03:07to evolve the process. And then to see the final product and to see all the elements
03:13working together, dancing together as they did, it felt really collaborative because,
03:18you know, I'm the voice of Roz, but the animators are the performers of Roz, the physical performance
03:23of Roz. And then you have the music that also adds another layer to the complexity of the
03:31experience. And Chris is holding it all together.
03:36It was a lovely meeting you, Lupita. And this beautiful movie will really, really break
03:44records and teach us a very special lesson about love and working together and taking
03:52every challenge and finding the courage to do it.
03:55Un abrazo muy grande, un saludo para ti, de parte de People en Español. Siga brillando.
04:02Keep shining. You're fantastic. Eres fantástica.
04:07Muchas gracias.
