00:00Whatever momentum the Quad Committee hearing has gained thus far is in danger of being lost with the impending session break.
00:07However, House leaders assure this will not be the case as they vowed to continue to work even during the
00:13respite so that when sessions resumes the goals of ferreting out the truth will not be as far-fetched.
00:20Mela Lesmora has the details.
00:30You can count on it, fellow Filipinos, that this Quad Committee will continue to defend and protect the interests of our fellow Filipinos.
00:46That is our promise to you.
00:48This was the assurance of House Quad Committee Lead Chair Robert Ace Barbers amid the ongoing hearings of their joint panel
00:56on illegal pogos, illegal drugs, and the alleged extrajudicial killings during the previous administration.
01:02Barbers said this during the mega-panel's visit to the groundbreaking ceremony of Bawan Technical Integrated High School in Bawan, Batangas.
01:10House Speaker Martin Romualdez served as the main guest of honor in the event.
01:15According to Barbers, the House Speaker gave specific directives to the Quad Committee and these are the following.
01:21This is just one of the directions of our investigation.
01:24We will answer what needs to be answered and above all, we will be able to pass laws for the betterment of our new Philippines.
01:37In an earlier statement, House Quad Committee Co-Chair Bienvenido Abante, Jr. stressed that even if Congress goes on recess, their hearings will still proceed.
01:46He emphasized it is important to identify who are the officials involved in illegal drugs, which is the end-all, be-all of the investigation.
01:55In connection with this, Abante also revealed the name of a general who allegedly helped former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog to avoid death
02:03and also warned him about the plan of the previous administration to order Mabilog to implicate certain personalities tied to illegal drugs.
02:11In Quad Comm's hearing last week, Mabilog shared the ordeal he went through after being included in the illegal drug lease of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
02:20Abante said Mabilog is referring to former PNP chief Camilo Cascolan who died last year.
02:26In a separate statement of another Quad Comm leader, Co-Chair Dan Fernandez said in their next hearings the public can expect more information, new discoveries and revelations coming out.
02:37We will be tackling the issue of Garma, the issue of Pogo, as well as Tony Yang because Tony Yang is already present.
