00:00Hezbollah supporters or not, Lebanese people are anxious.
00:05After first pages and then walkie-talkies exploded this week in coordinated attacks
00:09across the country, some fear that smartphones could be targeted too.
00:14We don't know whether the batteries on our phones can explode or not. We need someone
00:18to explain to us whether we're right to be afraid.
00:22They started with the device explosions and we don't know what they'll do next.
00:28The blasts on Tuesday and Wednesday went off wherever the holders of the devices happened
00:32to be, in homes and cars, shops and cafes, even at a funeral, killing dozens and maiming
00:39thousands.
00:40Since then, Israel has stepped up its deadly airstrikes in southern Lebanon, and several
00:45people were also killed when it bombed southern Beirut on Friday.
00:51The fear of war has become an increasing obsession for all Lebanese. We feel that the risk of
00:57war is growing day by day and that it is very near.
01:02I'm scared to go very far from my area and house. I come here for a change of atmosphere
01:07and then go back home and don't leave, which means I'm not at ease.
01:13The Lebanese army said it had been locating and detonating suspicious communication devices,
01:17while the country's authorities have banned pages and walkie-talkies on all planes departing
01:23from Beirut's international airport until further notice.
