00:00Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is now here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after a very
00:07long haul trip for a very short visit.
00:10The first thing he'll be doing is having a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden, a one-on-one
00:16personal discussion at the private residence of the U.S. President in Delaware.
00:22It's the 11th time the two leaders have had this sort of one-on-one meeting, but it's
00:26likely to be the last chance Anthony Albanese has to have close personal discussions with
00:33the leader of the U.S. before the U.S. presidential elections in November decide on who the next
00:39president will be.
00:41We want to, with regard to China, my position is very clear.
00:47It's that we will cooperate when we can.
00:50We will disagree where we must, but we'll engage in our national interest.
00:56And that is something that has led to an improvement in the relationships with China.
01:02That doesn't mean there aren't differences there, there are.
01:05And we talk about them and we discuss them in appropriate forums and we discuss them
01:10very directly.
01:11This Quad summit comes at a crucial time.
01:16The U.S. presidential election and the possibility of a Trump presidency returning could mean
01:22a different fate for the Quad than if Kamala Harris is elected.
01:26Joe Biden will be hoping that this meeting helps cement the future of this crucial partnership
01:31between these four countries.
01:34But Anthony Albanese won't be sticking around once the formalities are done.
01:37He won't be going to the U.N. General Assembly, he'll be heading straight back to Australia.
01:42He says he's only attending overseas meetings that he has to.
01:46He's keen to give the impression that he's prioritising critical issues at home.
