00:00When I was three years old, I wanted to be an elephant.
00:07I failed at that, so I was reduced to being an artist.
00:18The studio is both a physical place and a metaphoric space.
00:22It's a place of making and of making meaning.
00:28I prefer the solitary act of drawing.
00:31I prefer the companionship of collaborators.
00:34One of the hard things to realize is the edge of who one is,
00:38of what your imagination can produce.
00:41This is the job of the studio,
00:44to turn that which is invisible into something visible.
00:48So you start thinking you'll do a picture of the whole universe,
00:52but you end up with a coffee pot.
