As the housing crisis worsens, the nation is now facing the reality of more people having to live in makeshift accommodation such as tents and vans. In the northern rivers city of Grafton. ents have risen by more than 40 per cent over the past five years. These are the stories of those who are being left behind.

00:34real toilets here, no showers, so we've got to go to the Caribbean Park or down to the

00:43All us low to income people, we get left behind and eventually we run out of options.
00:49When you look at the price of rent to begin with, $400, I don't think that's realistic.
00:56You're looking at more than $500, it's literally not possible for those that are on a very

01:01If you look at the scale, they're obviously way down in terms of being able to afford
01:07what is available, which is very limiting, very limiting.
01:11And then sadly we've had the terrible disasters up north, and where people have had to relocate
01:16all over the place.
01:18We need to be finding real solutions to making sure that women, children, animals are safe.
01:26Anyone who came down here would agree that this is not fit for habitation by anyone,
01:31let alone our most needy.
