00:00I am as certain as it's possible to be that Scotland will be independent and well within my lifetime.
00:04The reason we couldn't secure a referendum I don't think was down to
00:09failures of strategy or not trying hard enough.
00:13It was down to that Westminster democracy denial.
00:16I think the fact that she jumped so early, like she couldn't even wait to do it,
00:20allows people like me, who had been avowed Remain campaigners, to stand up and say
00:24look, my Remain vote wasn't a vote for independence.
00:26Don't you dare say that voting to stay in the EU was a vote for Scotland to leave the UK,
00:31because it wasn't.
00:32And we managed to hold the line and get through that really tricky period.
00:36And had she played that differently, I'm not sure we would.
00:39I wasn't to know then that the ten years since would be wasted
00:43and political opportunities would go a-begging and for no apparent reason.
