00:00Dallas is 7-1. The Cowboys got off to a great start in week number one, but some of this
00:09is going to be interesting as we try and look back to what are the Cleveland Browns, right?
00:13At the end of the day, you beat a team on the road by 16, that's great. Dallas shutting
00:18the offensive, the offense down in that game, that did nothing in the second half. It muddies
00:25it a little bit because I don't know if that was games over, shut it down, or if Cleveland
00:29started to get to them a little bit here. Donnie, when you see Dallas at 7-1, because
00:34again, we talk about the gap for the Niners, is Dallas too far back from this pack of the
00:39top four? No, they are, because you're going to see the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night
00:42go up against the Atlanta Falcons. Now, the Falcons, week number one, we didn't like them.
00:45If the Falcons go 0-2, that certainly helps the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC. If the Eagles
00:49drop to 1-1, that really helps them because then we're thinking if the Cowboys can win
00:53today, they're 2-0, the Eagles will be 1-1, you get the point here. But I agree with you
00:57in this aspect. Dallas probably should be around that 6-1, 5-1 number, but also last
01:02week, Mike McCarthy, I hate to give him credit, I really do, but also, let's just take a look
01:07at the Titans. If they had the same mindset as Dallas, we don't think this offense can
01:11score. Let's just be conservative, let's pick up the chains, let's run some clock, and let's
01:15punt. They would have won their football game. Mike McCarthy, we didn't have to say on Monday
01:19morning, that guy's a bozo, man. You had that game one, and Dax out here throwing 35-plus
01:23times in the second half for no reason, because they wanted to get their offense underway.
01:27I like the way they coached it last week. I'm not taking anything away from the Dallas
01:30Cowboys. They smoked Cleveland, and they did it perfectly for me.
01:33And we have no concerns about Dallas in the regular season. We have concerns about Dallas
01:37and Dax in regards to a playoff type of environment. I want to go back to San Francisco for one
01:42second, because you were a big backer of Brock Purdy in regards to the MVP last year, right?
01:47Now with Christian McCaffrey out, and you don't think that Jordan Mason could be that
01:51guy, and knowing how their offense looked inconsistent, if they go on a heater, is this
01:57an opportunity for Brock Purdy to emerge, not just in regards to this team, but MVP,
02:03big picture, to take it over? Oh, now he's the guy. Christian McCaffrey's not here, Ayuk's
02:08not stepping up, Brock Purdy's putting up 250 with Debo in the backfield, and George
02:15Kittle. Is this an opportunity for Brock Purdy to separate themselves?
02:19My thing with that is, and it's like you actually bring it up in sore subjects, but
02:22last year's MVP, the whole thing just really annoyed me. He was going to win the award
02:27last year. Like, even if, by the time we got to the playoffs, it was all of a sudden McCaffrey's
02:32award, right? Brock was going to win it if they just beat the Ravens on Christmas. And
02:39then they lost, and then it was Lamar's award, because the defense shut down Brock Purdy.
02:44If you look at that race right now, the reason I'm not, I didn't bet an MVP preseason. I
02:50didn't. I didn't think anything was worth it. I guess my point is, Joe, Brock will win
02:56MVP if they win 13, 14 games, and they don't lose to some great team at the very end of
03:02the season. Yes, he doesn't have to worry about McCaffrey, but last year, despite McCaffrey
03:07winning Offensive Player of the Year, McCaffrey wasn't going to catch him in the regular season
03:11race. It was the playoff race, and that was back when I was begging you both to agree
03:14with me that Brock should win Super Bowl MVP, which you both were correct about. They were
03:18going to end up giving it to McCaffrey. I don't think Purdy's MVP chances, if anything,
03:23McCaffrey being hurt, hurts his chances, because all Purdy has to do to win MVP is win football
03:28games.
