00:00All right, finally, NFL, try to make heads or tails of what's going on this year, Sam,
00:08amongst all years.
00:09The only thing that I can tell you, and I've said this earlier in the show, I'm going to
00:12say it again, is that laying points in the NFL above like one or two is a losing proposition.
00:18These teams are very similar, if not the same.
00:20The look ahead lines, not look ahead for this week, Sam, there's only one team that's a
00:24seven point favorite in the NFL this week.
00:27Only one.
00:28That's it.
00:29That's it for this year.
00:30I think that's the big adjustment we're going to have to see from the books.
00:32Yeah, you see the big reaction there.
00:35People probably hesitant to bet on teams getting more than seven points.
00:39Obviously, the Ravens had a huge upset this past week.
00:42The Cowboys got destroyed by the Saints.
00:45Underdogs went 10-5 and won against the spread in eight and eight straight up after last
00:49night, after Philly faltered to Atlanta.
00:52It's pretty interesting to see the sports books adjust the spreads down.
00:55They had a great week, according to McQuarrie, which estimates that they held about 16% on
01:01all bets, which is double what you would usually expect in a week.
01:04That bounces back from a really bad week one.
01:07The public was on the favorite in 14 of the 16 games.
01:11So obviously, the sports books cleaned up there as well.
01:14It's really interesting to see how these odds move throughout the week.
01:16Obviously, there's about only one game, but the huge spread, we'll see how high that goes
01:20and we'll see if people bet it down before next week.
01:23But definitely an interesting start to the season in terms of betting and what the books are making.
