00:00After it was revealed during a Senate hearing yesterday that a former Philippine National Police or PNP chief

00:06was on the take and actually aided this Ms. Banban Mayor Alice Guo in escaping,

00:11upper chamber lawmakers reacted and gave their own takes on the implication of such an allegation, if proven true.

00:19Danielle Manalastas has more.

00:23Do you have any other suspects? Do you have additional amounts that you're talking about?

00:40But I still can't confirm that, ma'am, because I'm outside of the loop lately, ma'am.

01:04Is it also included in the conversation that this alleged former chief PNP was helped by any of our current government officials in the escape of Ms. Guo Huaping?

01:18The conversation there, ma'am, is in the payroll, the monthly payroll. I think it was mentioned the former chief PNP.

01:30After this revelation from a PACORN official during the Senate hearing on illegal pogos yesterday,

01:37a number of senators expressed concern, as a named former PNP chief has been dragged into the fray, putting the entire police force on edge.

01:46For Senator Risa Hontiveros, this is both a peace and order and national security concern,

01:53saying this is unacceptable given a former government official who swore to protect the people instead has allegedly sold himself out to be an instrument and tool for alleged pogo crimes.

02:06Senator Ronald de la Rosa, a former PNP chief himself, shared recent exchanges in their chat group, where he said some of his retired counterparts voiced their concerns.

02:18That's what they want, to clarify who's involved. If the information is not yet validated, not yet confirmed, you will be released immediately.

02:30So what if it's not validated? The name former chief PNP is gone. It's gone. We're all from there.

02:42The PNP also found an ally in Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla.

02:47You know, it's unfair to the police organization or the Philippine National Police in general.

02:52Maybe you can name who are the police under the monthly payroll.

03:00Of course, it's unfair to all. They should really list who they are.

03:08Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel said the intel report which was made public is too raw,

03:14saying this is at a level of gossip. Senator Hontiveros Camp, meanwhile, announced next week's Senate hearing could well be curtains for the probe.
