00:00A bodega that illegally operates as a butane refilling business in Plaridel, Bulacan was investigated.

00:08Two people were arrested, including June Veneracion.

00:15PNP-CIDG searched more than 3 million empty butane canisters and refilling equipment

00:22when a bodega entered Plaridel, Bulacan.

00:24The amount of money was more than Php 100 million.

00:28The butane refilling business that does not have a permit from the Department of Energy is operating.

00:33We are still investigating how long this will last.

00:37But I think it's still new. Maybe it's just months old.

00:41The illegal refilling and tampering of butane canisters is done in the bodega.

00:46After that, it will be sold in the market.

00:48Butane canisters are usually used in portable burners.

00:59Two people were arrested in the operation.

01:02One of the charges against them is violating the Republic Act 8293 or Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

01:10What they are doing to the empty canisters, they are removing the original mark.

01:17And they are changing their markings.

01:21Illegal butane canisters are dangerous because they did not go through a thorough process according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

01:27If there's a leak, just a little spark and it will explode.

01:31If that tin can is mishandled, improperly refilled, it has dents, the chances are higher.

01:42The explosion of a butane canister is as dangerous as the explosion of a watermelon.
