Megan Fox is a killer robot nanny, but Film Brain finds that this silly sci-fi thriller is far less fun than that description implies.

00:00Megan Fox is a robot in the sci-fi thriller Subservience, which re-teams her with Till Death director S.K. Dale.
00:07Fox's android is bought by Michele Moroni while his wife Madeline Zima is in the hospital,
00:12but she's doing more on the household chores, she's seducing Moroni and trying to eliminate his family.
00:18It's yet another AI tech thriller that we've had a lot of lately, with commentary about automation,
00:24through a subplot where Moroni's foreman discovers that his construction staff are being replaced by robots.
00:29Although, to the film's credit, it does strike one merrily creepy image of bald robot surgeons with no mouths.
00:36But essentially, the film is Megan, FOX, meets Face of Attraction and the hand that rocks the cradle,
00:41with an obvious nod to Terminator near the end.
00:44By the way, Zima played the kid in Cradle, so that's a casting-in joke there.
00:49But the film's simply no fun, despite how silly it is, because it's so sluggish and po-faced,
00:54it really would have benefitted from leaning into the campiness of it all, but that's not in its programming.
