00:39House Speaker Martin Romualdez takes an apparent swipe at Vice President Sara Duterte as he
00:44opens plenary debates on the proposed 2025 national budget.
00:48We cannot ignore the reality that there are those who seek to undermine our work, critics
00:56who speak of accountability while conveniently ignoring their own misuse of public funds.
01:03Let us be clear.
01:06This chamber will not tolerate hypocrisy, nor will it stand idle in the face of such
01:12blatant disregard of public trust.
01:16Romualdez doesn't say Duterte's name.
01:19But just a few days ago, his key allies criticized the VP for refusing to answer questions on
01:24her confidential expenses and for snubbing a budget panel hearing.
01:28ACT Teacher's Representative Franz Castro earlier said Duterte may have committed an
01:32impeachable offense by her alleged misuse of public funds.
01:37English pop rock band Duran Duran performs live at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s private
01:42birthday party Friday, September 13.
01:45The Presidential Communications Office confirms this in a press release sent to the media
01:50the next day, September 14.
01:52The PCO says the band's performance was a surprise for Marcos, who attended the party
01:56organized by his friends at a hotel in Pasay City late Friday.
02:01It's the last item on the PCO's list of Marcos' activities on his birthday.
02:05When asked, the PCO admits it made the press release a, quote, reaction to a vlogger's
02:10Facebook post about the band's appearance at Marcos' party.
02:14The agency says Duran Duran's engagement came at no cost to the government.
02:18It gave no further details.
02:21The latest survey by Pollster SWS shows public satisfaction with the Marcos administration
02:27rose by 10 percentage points in the second quarter of 2024.
02:3162 percent of the 1,500 respondents surveyed nationwide in June say they were satisfied
02:36with the government's performance.
02:38Only 52 percent said the same in March.
02:41Meanwhile, 22 percent say they were dissatisfied, not much different from the 23 percent in
02:46March.
02:47Undecided respondents dropped eight percentage points in June.
02:51This means the Marcos administration got a net satisfaction rating of plus 40 in the
02:55second quarter, which SWS qualifies as good.
02:59That's up from the moderate plus 29 in the first quarter.
03:02The government scored highest in helping victims of disasters, improving the quality of children's
03:07education, and helping the poor.
03:11Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump says he hates singer Taylor Swift days
03:16after she endorsed his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
03:20In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump says,
03:24I hate Taylor Swift.
03:26Swift's endorsement has drawn over 9 million likes on Instagram, fueling speculation it
03:30could boost Harris' chances of winning.
03:33Trump initially dismissed the endorsement, saying he was not a Taylor fan.
03:37Meantime, the Federal Bureau of Investigation says Trump is safe after what appears to be
03:42a second assassination attempt at the West Palm Beach Gulf Force in Florida.
03:47Officials say Secret Service agents fired on a gunman who dropped an AK-47-style assault
03:52rifle.
03:53He was arrested after fleeing the scene.
03:55The New York Times and Fox News identified the suspect as 58-year-old Hawaii resident
04:00Ryan Wesley Routh.
04:02The FBI has declined to comment on the suspect's identity.
