Earlier in 2024, Sea Scouts members spotted a friendly platypus darting in and out of the water near the boat ramp at Lake Burley Griffin.

00:10tourists and locals flock hopeful of an encounter similar to this one filmed by
00:17a tourist back in 2022. However being the bush capital platypus can also be
00:25spotted in many other of our waterways including right here at Lake Burley
00:31Griffin. Earlier this year several members of the Lake Burley Griffin
00:36Sea Scouts spotted this daring platypus out the front of the water police boat
00:41ramp at Yarralumla. Despite the excited shrills from the kids and big kids
00:47according to eyewitness Ed Dark it didn't appear to be afraid swimming
00:52around and under boats as they retrieved them for the evening. And get
00:56this it swam right up to one of the Scout leaders almost sat on his feet
01:02and guess what his nickname was? Platypus. How about that?
