A woman has been killed in Sydney’s south-west after a tree branch fell on her. The woman was walking down a street in Liverpool, when it's believed a strong wind gust brought down the branch.

00:23Paramedics tried to save her but the woman died at the scene.
00:26She's believed to be in her 60s.

00:34It wasn't.
00:35The freak accident was likely caused by the windy conditions seen along the state's coastline.
00:41Since midnight the state emergency service has received more than 55 calls for help as
00:46strong gusty winds brought down trees, branches, roof tiles and metal sheeting.
00:51Affected areas include Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong with winds reaching speeds of more
00:57than 90 kilometers an hour.
00:58So we've seen wind gusts of around 60 to 70 kilometers an hour during the afternoon in
01:02the western suburbs and that situation will persist for the afternoon and into the early
01:07part of the evening.

01:14Authorities are warning people to stay out of the wind and be careful around trees until
01:19weather conditions improve later tonight.
