00:00On September 7th, crowds gathered at Wisma Tun Sambandan in Kuala Lumpur to witness Jay's
00:08Odyssey Music perform an astonishing 318 songs in a single day.
00:17A total of 200 performers, primarily students of the music school, made their way from all
00:24over the Klang Valley and other states, as well as Singapore, to take the stage.
00:30While most of them were of Indian heritage, that didn't stop them from enthusiastically
00:35performing songs in Malay, Chinese, English, Korean and Russian in addition to Tamil, Telugu,
00:42Hindi and Malayalam songs.
00:45They either sang or played instruments such as the keyboard, guitar, vena, violin, recorder,
00:52harmonium and pianica.
00:56The 318 performances, which included 13 Malaysian state anthems, were chosen to mark the date
01:03of National Day.
01:05Patriotic songs such as Saya Anak Malaysia and Tanggal 31 were also performed.
01:13With this feat, Jay's Odyssey Music stamped its name in the Lincoln Book of Records and
01:18received an award for being the first in the world to perform 318 songs in multiple
01:24languages and playing various musical instruments.
01:4916-year-old Sri Santana Lakshmi Sivasubramaniam beautifully sang a Mandarin song titled Tian
02:06Mimi, even though she does not speak the language.
02:15Sri shares that by participating in the event, she has been inspired to master songs in other
02:21languages.
02:23Another performer, 46-year-old Kamaraj Krishnan, believes music can be a tool that unites the
02:29different cultures in Malaysia.
02:45He's not the only one who feels that way.
03:15You can, like for example, you can speak Chinese and I can be an Indian, but you understand
03:21music, right?
03:23Like, I can be playing the piano and anyone can listen to it.
