Alas Pilipinas coach calls out PH fans
Alas Pilipinas men Italian head coach Angiolino Frigoni urged Filipino volleyball fans to cheer for local players.
He made the call because during their friendly match against Japan last Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, the Filipinos cheered more for Japan.
With the Philippines hosting the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championships next year, the Italian coach asked the Filipino fans to support the locals more.
"We played here in the Philippines and it's a very good atmosphere. Because the Filipinos don't only cheer for the locals, they cheer for everybody. I don't like that the Filipinos start to be a little different, cheers for Filipinos please, they are more cheering for Japan than the Philippines," he said after the FIVB drawing of lots at the Solaire Grand Ballroom on Saturday night, Sept. 14.
