The weather change arrived following a hot start to September in the region. Scientists recorded Earth's hottest summer on record, breaking a record set just one year ago.

00:16Meteorologists say a low pressure system from northern Italy is predicted to dump heavy
00:21rain in most parts of the country.
00:24That includes the border regions with Austria and Germany in the south and Poland in the

00:29Heavy rain and the risk of flooding have also been forecast in Slovakia and Hungary.
00:35The military in Poland has been mobilized and authorities have appealed to residents
00:40to stock up on food and to prepare for power outages by charging power banks.
00:46Prime Minister Donald Tusk said there was no reason to panic but there is a reason to
00:50be fully mobilized.
00:55And severe weather warnings are in place in lower Austria which has seen almost continuous
00:59rain for days.
